Day 17 of Na/GloPoWriMo 2020 invites us to poetically examine the simple pleasures that make up the Saturdays of our souls.
Simple Saturday by Michael Doyle Simply Saturday Could be no other way But over coffee or tea To share our poetry There at the table As best we're able Gathered together Whatever the weather The words fulfill As souls reveal The good and the bad Whether happy or sad The feelings we share Laying it all bare Given in love and care Just being there Listening as we give Reading as we live Traces of our minds We trail a bit behind While giving our heart While thoughts depart And we simply feel The souls that reveal The things that moved Hurt or somehow improved All the words spill out Be it a cry or a shout I am thankful for grace As I look into the face Of those brave enough To speak truth enough Each of those who speak Giving just a bit of peek Into what is their best Saturday brings its rest (c) April 18, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
