In His Faithfulness

Based in part on Romans 6:

The Bizzare House - In the Key of Sharpened Dissonance

In His Faithfulness
by Michael Doyle

For all our fears and all of our doubt
The Lord will guard us faithfully
Established as guard that we might work out
That the Lord has made each of us wonderfully

Even as it is that we often stumble
The Lord is faithful in His encouragement
Despite how it is that we might fumble
The Lord strengthens us in our discouragement

God is here and walks among us
Removing fear and sadness in our hearts
He does this as we know that He does
In His faithfulness that never departs

The Lord we know rewards us in what we give
Quietly, we do those things that we can
Knowing that in giving is how we live
In that same truth for every woman and man

Too often what's in our heads comes out differently
The cognitive dissonance has its way
Behavior and belief may not match so reverently
As each of us live throughout our busy day

Instead of harmony, we walk in justification
Making our best cases that our wrongs are right
Seeking out not the right path but rationalization
We seek in all manners to make dark into light

We need to ask the Lord to speak to heart
To find our way back to truth and grace
Following the right path and never depart
Choosing God's way and rightfully embrace

Death and life cannot ever truly coexist
Unchanged hearts are an unchanged life
Let us instead, do right and persist
Death, burial then resurrected from this strife

Dead to the old self and its influence
Striving to always walk in the light
God's word and our lives meet their confluence
Walking in the yoke of doing what's right

As Jesus Himself arose from the dead
We find our salvation in that authority
Let this roll gracefully around in your head
We are saved to new life through His divinity
