Things Remembered
by Michael Doyle
Despite the well of star-crossed tears
Having had been ponded through the years
Of one thing, I have certainly found
That there are enough words to be chased around
One thing proven is the swollen sure chance
Involved in each moment lived in circumstance
It's too easy to get lost in bleak sentimentality
With so many of us dreading our mortality
Suffering as we are at the breakdown of trauma
Where life is afflicted with too much drama
Triggered as we are by experiencing the confluence
Of unspeakable minds finding their vapid influence
Lamentations stir within our extended family
Suffering as we from all of the negativity
Be it racism, disease or ongoing rages of PTSD
Inciting incidences that bring back bad memories
All that's left is a wrap of hope and honesty
And to walk in the Lord's presence transparently
Reflections and questions continue the journey
Until the campfire's crackle brings its peace to me
