Daughters of Salem
by Michael Doyle
In the misted realm of nightmares
Beyond the screens of our daily care
The daughters of Salem toss
In their graveyards of the crooked cross
Hidden tears masked by blood stains
That cannot wash away with the cold rains
Is the fear that lies beyond fear
Where the hounds of Hell persevere
Down the corridor to the locked room
Where past is present and we seal our doom
Are secrets we hide and dread to know
All for the sakes of the Lords of rock-n-roll
We make our unholy crypt beneath the skull
Trying as we can to resist the master's call
Watching in our minds as Autumn leaves fall
Praying to a God that we don't really know at all
Yet, God is always open to those seeking sanctuary
Yes, there is a war waging in this near mortuary
Some of Heaven's angels rage their rebellion
For the sake of Lucifer and his cohort of hellions
Broken wings are the the wages of your sin
You feel these tugging at you again and again
Calling out as you do for His saving mercy
While life pours out its bittersweet heresy
The darkness whispers of our waiting fate
That forms us more than the destiny we await
Ultimately then, we will find our voice
And dark or light, we will make our final choice
