An Intellectual Conversation

An Intellectual Conversation
by Michael Doyle

I asked you to speak your beautiful mind
Unsuspecting of all the wonders I might find
But knowing that I would love just to talk
Who knew that talk would grow into our walk

I asked you to kiss me to just to taste your lips
Not knowing my hands would find your hips
Nor, that I would always want to keep you near
Or that I would love the words I would hear

I looked into the depths of your amazing eyes
Without a thought of how captivating a surprise
Awaited me as you looked back with sweet love
It seems preordained as if from the Lord above

You took my hand and told me the things you say
We turned to dance as our bodies began to sway
Not really hearing the music that the band played
Yesterday turned into tomorrow as you stayed

And suddenly I have met a brilliant conversation
That has developed into my deepest inspiration
I don't need any deep-set, ill defined explanation
I just need you and me to be our final destination
