Getting To the Photographer's Prize
by Michael Doyle
If you don't want to be left in the lurch
It is always best to start with research
Trying to find the photo with something to say
Cannot best be left to an improvised day
There is not time in life's presentation
To put up with the mental aggravation
Of hearing, "you should have been here yesterday"
Stuck like a deer in the headlights of what to say
You cannot shoot what just isn't there
That seems at worse abundantly clear
It comes down to the web and email
When we just have to know the details
There's a magic in nonverbal communication
When we need access and intimation
Wearing that proverbial smile on your face
Is one of the best ways to get others to embrace
That dream you wish to share and to show
Giving your best so that others might know
It's often about making that connection
To take the unique from the best direction
Finding the places visually loaded
Is the photographer's blessing exploded
Taking the time for the right opportunity
In the focused game in all of its capacity
The secret is that homework equals access
To the intrigue and dazzle others possess
Never forgetting that photographer is the guest
Of those who hold the keys to all of the best
Getting to the great is a function of time
It's as simple as this; nothing quite sublime
Shooting beyond the obvious captures the surprise
And then the prize worthy of the observer's eyes
