The Times We’re Living Through

The Times We're Living Through
by Michael Doyle

The times we're living through are not permanent
Still, I need you to this solid sentiment
As a Christian, it is okay to grieve and lament
In these days, this is a place that has become intimate

Sometimes it seems that God is
The only one that we know is there
As we cry out, knowing that God is
Our Father and protector from fear

We feel it is as we cry out in song
Knowing that at least there's one place we belong
God is there in our darkest contemplation
Holding out His blessed hand of redemption

Taking our time to know and feel our pain
Holding as strong as we can against the strain
God listens with loving, patient ears
As we feel our way through all of our tears

Trusting in God, despite the world's false narrative
Staking that claim in the simple declarative
He has a bigger plan in His semi-hidden upper story
Ours is but to live out our days to His glory

Though some nights we toss and know no rest
We must have faith that we are indeed blessed
Even King David cried out to the Lord in his pain
And we know now that it was not and is not in vain

It is righteous to live in our honesty
Staying true to all nuances of integrity
God loves us quite compassionately
Embracing each of us as part of His beloved family
