The All American Get Together

Velvet Design -As American As Mom & Apple Pie

The All American Get Together
by Michael Doyle

This world of ours has seen
What is called fairer weather
Busy as we are in simply being
And hoping things turn better

With Fourth of July coming soon
We are malcontent in preparation
Refusing to allow fears to call the tune
As we prepare for our celebration

Our glimmer of hope knows hesitation
With so many unknowns and then some
With no one to really answer the questions
Even good times have become cumbersone

Undaunted America pledges to carry on
For summer and the Fourth held reverent
The march by drumbeat carries itself on
And this year, we promise it to be different
