The Harder They Fall
by Michael Doyle
The harder they fall
Either side of the law
It's the repeat and call
In the nature of it all
Sins of the fathers grow
In a deeper shade of shadow
Darker than the blackest black
It's righteousness they lack
Two sides of the same coin
Yet, together these join
To form the function of the whole
Hoping to bring healing to the soul
It's some kind of wonder
Lived out in unending blunder
That brings us to the truth
However much it might be uncouth
There's no spell to fall under
No lightening without thunder
And at end of every night
There will be safety in the light
