Falling In the Darkness
by Michael Doyle
Whatever your belief
I do not mean you grief
Please don't be annoyed
When I explain about the void
That some see and believe
Because it is what they conceive
Between God and brother man
That confuses us when it can
Some react in their anger
Preferring God as a stranger
Instead of seeking reconciliation
They wall in their alienation
Shaking their fist in the defiance
That comes easier than reliance
And they do not realize the pain
That hides behind the words spoken in vain
Falling in the darkness of a whole
Blacker than any human's soul
We fade away into the setting sun
Knowing only that our path is done
...or is it?
