In the Process of Confession

St John Orthodox Christian Church Monastery - Mosaic of Confession
In the Process of Confession
by Michael Doyle

Keeping reality and the Bible in context
Is a paradigm that constantly corrects
To keep truest meaning in its place
Throughout our lives, it's a truth to embrace

God answers prayers in His time
To do otherwise would be a crime
Each answer must come when it is due
If the right answer is going to come to you

Even in exile, we must pray for the best
Believing in truth is the real, final test
God's promises are certain but not always immediate
Sometimes life plays out as we remediate

At times, darkness comes to bring light
We must keep faith in the Lord to make this right
It's the process of keeping the promise
Sometimes life comes at you and it is what it is

Failing to the bottom to yet rise again
These are the times we find Jesus is our friend
The helping hand to bring us to that rise
To come up and through to our pleasant surprise

The hurt we experience can help others
If for nothing else, as lessons, for one another
There is a pardon given in our forgiveness
If we will only wise up and live this

When we press on broken glass, we bleed
From every thought and feeling germinates the seeds
Bringing that everything that we truly need
We can cipher this truth in the good book that we read

Full circle in our mangled, messy process
Is the truth of our lives that we confess
The Father above gave the life of His Son
So that we might be forgiven and our damage done

Ending in prayer that is sorely needed
In hope that grace and redemption is heeded
There is a victory at the foot of the cross
That brings us hope and never our loss
