To the New Sunrise

Hand to heart, heart to hand
I wish only that you understand
That even if it weren't for all your charm
I would never wish to bring you harm

When and wherever you may go
You take my care beyond what I show
It is much deeper than I have words to say
We can bring each other forward in this way

Forward and toward, the morning's light
Bringing warmth and love to make life right
We can build this world as we together dream
As though particles of light joined in one beam

It is as though we've known this together
Through many lifetimes, only it is better
Memories call to us in the comfort that we feel
We must be brave enough to make love real

We can be safe in refuge of memory
If we open ourselves to this reverie
Of delighted playfulness that we each inspire
Though it leaves us restless, we never tire

Still, come rest with me beside the fire
We are almost free within our desire
I find a sense of peace within your eyes
And joy comes to us both to greet the sunrise
