Holistic Commitment
by Michael Doyle
There is no real culture of life
Without the culture of married family
Here in this world filled with strife
This is not just an empty homily
But a call for holistic commitment
To which there should be no resentment
But a desire to live life right
And cling to good principles holding them tight
Candles lit in darkness in search of hope
For too many feeling they're at end of rope
Walking away is an act of chilled violence
This must be spoken against the silence
All life is sacred, I repeat again
There is nothing righteous in those who pretend
That the death of innocence fixes anything
It only brings a cloud of darkness to everything
Each child born is a blessing in experience
There is this chance to make good difference
Bringing love to a loveless world filled with cold
Every child's life is a miracle waiting to unfold
It's a harsh brutality to kill the most vulnerable
Because of a brash irresponsibility by the fully capable
For those less capable support should be there
So that there is hope to replace the baseless fears
There is a conversation to be had about abuse
And a rejection for those who treat others like refuse
Pregnancy care does not end at the moment of birth
Not if we intend a better place on this earth
