Stay the Course
by Michael Doyle
Standing rooted in our visibility
Seeing beyond our vulnerability
Lead out in example of God's flow
Is the only star we should follow
Shifting hearts torn from God
Into doubts that are feeling odd
Jealously looking with envious eyes
Though we know from the start, this is unwise
This is life in its full conversation
We recognize its the journey, not the destination
As we see God juggling bits of everything
Taking moments needed for our all of nothing
Slipping and falling even in our state of grace
Finding it hard to hold on from what we face
Traces of learning from which we must stand
These cannot be assumptive and are not God's plans
We squander our treasures without meaning
Yet our heavenly Father understands our being
In all that brings us to our humility
When, the prodigal child, rejoins the family
