A Truth Told

A Truth Told
by Michael Doyle

Trapped within lies within lies
A truth illuminates under artificial skies
And the pain makes for the better man
It’s a script a believer can understand

Meant, as it is, to make us believe
Though written so carefully as to deceive
The all, the everything, that is the construct
It’s a mere illusion set to self-destruct

Every game has its own set of rules
Learn them well to win or be fools
The sooner we know this from the beginning
The sooner we can beak them and begin winning

Let’s overtax the systems in their dexterity
Overloading the paths of our own complexity
Breaking a few eggs along the way
Scrambled into the reflections based on yesterday

You thought you were clever in breaking my heart
But I knew you would do it from the very start
And the anguish that I feel leads to what is real
This then is the truth that a broken life reveals

We bring ourselves in final construction
The truth of ourselves is math of our mass destruction
However improbable, this is the answer
That feeds on our faith eating it as if a cancer

To be alive without ever really living
Is it illusory or something beyond forgiving
Frames per second are locked behind the vault
That once found can only lead to revolt
