Christmas Time Again
by Michael Doyle
You kiss the dog and pet the wife
Playing out scenes from its a wonderful life
You hang the lights and blame the season
Holding out the mistletoe as if the reason
For one more chance to seductively kiss
The secret love you know you'd truly miss
If you woke to find tomorrow never comes
While wiping away the snow that fogs the pane
It's officially Christmas time again
Spent in good cheer with family and friends
If you don't believe Santa, you still pretend
As you count blessings, you never want to end
The things that come and go, before our eyes
We forget that each morning is a blessing in disguise
Isn't it strange how easily we can lose it all
But when it is there, we somehow struggle to recall
Hot chocolate memories shard with a smile
Rock, paper, and scissors play out in denial
And I love how your eyes light up in surprise
Still looking for Santa in the moonlit skies
It's officially Christmas time again
Spent in good cheer with family and friends
If you don't believe Santa, you still pretend
As you count blessings, you never want to end
It doesn't matter how long the lines are
As Feliz Navidad strums across the busker's guitar
There is a question of time that begins to slow
As we look out the window into the Christmas snow
Spreading the cheer across the world, nation to nation
This is our time to join hands in blessed celebration
Merry Christmas, in its spirit, shared with everyone
Now that Christmastide has once again begun
