Born In the Rockies (Part II)
by Michael Doyle
The backbone of North America stretches for miles
Bring life across the land with ceaseless smiles
From shifting sand dunes to deep river valleys it goes
From the most brilliant stretches of sun to deep shadows
Each biome provides respite for each new beginning
That comes with spring from winter, life is winning
It welcomes the spawn of the next generation from the mist
As new life gathers round into the old life's midst
There in Yellowstone Valley, the cranes begin to dance
It's a renewal of vows in a lifelong loving romance
These ways of love have their own special ritual
That leads to the waiting that has become habitual
Yellowstone is the largest temperate ecosystem on earth
Filled with rainbows of life, grasses, nature's mirth
Spring brings a baby cub's first steps from the den
As a mother looks on at life's beginning yet again
It's a time for these animal babies to explore and play
As they make their way into the the freshness of the day
Play is an essential part of every life's childhood
In this tale as old as time, as it is best understood
