The DJ Adds the Bassline

The DJ Adds the Bassline
by Michael Doyle

Lay the basics down
To wear the DJ crown
Do you feel me
The drip reveals me

Church bells ring
It's a banger thing
And you can't come home
Until you're solid as a stone

The DJ adds the bassline
Sealing it into real time
To say what has to be said
Figuring it out in my head

Daddy doesn't like blackmail
Let the tracks compel
Like a work in progress
The bass pump like the real test

It's something sounding special
With the feeling it's official
Laying down these beats for myself
Like there's nobody else

The DJ adds the bassline
Sealing it into real time
To say what has to be said
Figuring it out in my head

Maybe it's a bit humming
Add a few riffs, a bit of drumming
Here we are in my creative space
Back to back celebrating in our traces

Focusing on the drip to drop
Forward motions won't stop
How fast does it truly hit
The DJ finds his fit

The DJ adds the bassline
Sealing it into real time
To say what has to be said
Figuring it out in my head

Taking the D to the J
The beats begin to play
You can see it in my style
The music plays in smiles

The feeling gets oblivious
Maybe its a bit too obvious
It's a matter of real respect
Moving past a world of criminal neglect

The DJ adds the bassline
Sealing it into real time
To say what has to be said
Figuring it out in my head
