My Most Meaningful Bond

My Most Meaningful Bond
by Michael Doyle

In this age where the hard Left seeks to divide,
I know that I always want my daughters by my side.
I read to them nightly while they were in the womb,
And by my side, there will always be enough room.

Each of their smiles has indeed been my purpose,
And anything they needed was my best service.
But for my words, my fear and tears have gone unseen,
Sacrificed as it's been for my two favorite human beings.

In my life, there is one most meaningful bond,
It takes me near to Heaven and then somehow beyond.
No one in life is more loved than my dear daughters,
It's my true greatest pleasure to be their father.

I have never been one who sought after any hero worship,
But I have always felt the need for a continued relationship.
Of all things, that there must always be the being near,
And my always seeking to listen more rather than just hear.

With the separation from their mother, they needed protection,
Maybe a thousand-fold more than another stream of correction.
I can't pretend that either has been less than my breath,
Since day one, they'll be my inspirations until my death.

In my life, there is one most meaningful bond,
It takes me near to Heaven and then somehow beyond.
No one in life is more loved than my dear daughters,
It's my true greatest pleasure to be their father.

Maybe Euripides is right there's nothing dearer to a father,
As he begins growing older, than the love of his daughters.
When I was younger, they softened my heart as only they can,
And from them I have learned to be a gentler, better man.

As they've grown older, I have sought time with my teens,
Trying my best to understand and help two future queens.
There are things that they have gone through I can't know,
But I've always done my level best to let my love show.

In my life, there is one most meaningful bond,
It takes me near to Heaven and then somehow beyond.
No one in life is more loved than my dear daughters,
It's my true greatest pleasure to be their father.

Not a moment has this father's love ever in the least retreated,
But not knowing how to be lady I taught them how to be treated.
I hope that I have done well in providing a standard among men.
This is my hope, and that they might yet visit now and then.

As time has gone on, there has been a need for course correction,
I pray there will never come a time for any disconnection.
The time we have left to spend must be spent in good quality.
They are my loves and the heart of my treasured family.

In my life, there is one most meaningful bond,
It takes me near to Heaven and then somehow beyond.
No one in life is more loved than my dear daughters,
It's my true greatest pleasure to be their father.
