The Armor of Truth

The Armor of Truth
by Michael Doyle

In a juxtaposition of faith and mind,
The children of tomorrow aren't left behind.
They were to gather in the cellar where
In prayer and response, the master would steer.

A reverence is given to free speech and thought.
These will provide the illumination sought.
Everyone who accepts the fearless initiation
Need not drone on in faithless repetition.

If you care to gather as children of light,
Our discussion will shine what is right.
The search for truth can lead to blasphemy.
That is the liar's path of broken theology.

The pursuit of real truth will set you free,
As you join as one in your identity.
This is not death but blessed dignity.
The search for truth brings thee to thee.

To express this quite simply and plainly,
Sometimes truth arrives quite painfully.
It can be rough, like a slap in the face,
When you realize you've accepted false grace.

Never be within striking distance of your enemy.
This then is a rock-solid bit of theology.
But what if your worst enemy is inside?
In the mirror, you see the adversary behind your pride.

If you come together as children of light,
Our discussion will shine what is right.
The search for truth can lead to blasphemy.
That is the liar's path of broken theology.

The pursuit of real truth will set you free,
As you join as one in your identity.
This is not death but blessed dignity.
The search for truth brings us to our dignity.

The alignment is the only real priority.
That's a secret we can trace throughout history.
To believe otherwise is a matter of pretense.
True progress always has its sense of consequence.

Though a god might give us his protection,
There exists a demon seed that escapes detection.
The reality behind reality is the ultimate game.
The ones and zeroes establish the definitive frame.

If we come together as children of light,
Our discussion will bring us to what is right.
The search for truth can lead to blasphemy.
That is the liar's path of broken theology.

The pursuit of real truth will set you free,
As you join as one in your identity.
This is not death but blessed dignity.
The search for truth brings us to our community.

In this universe, there's a war going on.
If fought wrongly, all will soon be gone.
These are the puzzles we must determine
If we are to learn where it all begins.

Jesus's death on that rugged Calvary cross
Was just one more temporal sort of loss.
Soon, we'll find our way to shine in glory
And when sin is defeated, we'll end this story.

When we come together as children of the light,
Our discussion will bring us to what is right.
The search for truth can lead to blasphemy.
And that is the liar's path of broken theology.

We know that the pursuit of real truth will set us free,
As you and I join as one, informing our identity.
We will replace death with a blessed dignity.
The search for truth will free us as God's family.
