Rules of Immortality

Rules of Immortality
by Michael Doyle

I will guide and protect you,
Her whisper tells your ear.
Trust in her in all you do,
And you have nothing to fear.

Though it's not a fault of creation,
The truth becomes the situation,
And all that's left is the getaway.
The hope is to make it to another day.

Right off, it's hard to understand.
It's a bit like a stranger in a strange land.
There is but one naked truth to know.
If we know it, it will show.

But it's kept from us by alien dreams
Who hold fast as superior to human beings.
This is not in the balance to be had,
And failure to meet this is the battle of good and bad.

Our souls must find the right harmony.
We must tune into the right frequency.
Seeing the world does not come easily.
An abduction takes humanity across the galaxy.

May the gods provide the inspiration
To find the method of magical explanation.
She will find her way to take us there,
To a time and place beyond fear.

Wisdom often comes from solitude
Where awkward thoughts can't intrude.
Only love and forgiveness can find the way
To bury us rebirthed into our world's new day.

The time has come for new power to be freed.
The moment has arrived in our time of need.
We must claw our way to bloody victory,
A victory unseen in all of our history.

We must know the rules to break them well.
It's a glorious tale that we will tell
As we learn to set each other free,
Only the gods know who we will be.

Though our souls might burn in incineration,
The good and bad of humanity know integration
As we sail across the rushing stage of eternity
These are the rules of maximizing immortality.
