A Stone's Throw (David)

In life, sometimes we are picked last.
It's the future that has been cast.
This was once David's position 
As he was called to save the Israeli nation.

Sometimes we are on the ebb of favor.
Other times, we own it and gently savor.
David did his best to do his part.
He was the one closest to God in his heart.

Mistake led to repentance, a full circle turned.
From heart to Holy Spirit, we have learned.
To God, we conform and make ourselves right,
Owning our truth, transparent as light.

The House of David taught us well
As we would wish from knowing his tale.
Despite the path of failure and heartbreak,
He lived for God; we must make no mistake.

The giant Goliath is a tale of fear,
With a single stone, David made this disappear.
Moving past obstacles with faith in God's hope,
And with this step, he taught us all how to cope.

Whatever it is that is our circumstance,
We must trust in God and take our chance.
Whatever our opposition,  we have a strategy,
And we know its success in mankind's history.

Such is the path of great inspiration.
In the name of the Lord, we lead our nation.
The Lord rescues us from certain defeat.
This is the truth we most often meet.

The greatest care of God carries every day.
We shall let the story of David show the way.
In God's strength, we will duly overcome.
This is our Father's place in His kingdom.

Prayer is the resetting of our attention.
From this point, we trust with intention.
Faith in God brings us to our victory.
This is shown again and again in history.

God gives us the talents and skills we need,
Though at times we might falter and bleed.
But if we are to reach for the kingdom's high,
The least we can expect is that we must try.

At his lowest, David was where he should not be,
Doing, as we often do - doing wrong for all to see.
Some sins rage against the body's purity.
These are the worst in our struggle for morality.

We are instructed by God to run from these times,
While Satanic temptation edges us into fuller crimes.
This cannot and does not lead to any good.
Sin gives way to spiritual death as understood.

Guard rails are put in place for a reason.
This is how life is from season to season.
Such deception will by God be caught,
And there will be a price as there ought.

It comes down to a matter of propriety.
In the end, repeated sins require responsibility.
Sins of such magnitude call for culpability,
And repentance must be made to our capacity.

The path of sin leads to consequence.
The price to be paid will have its recompense.
Though all can and will be forgiven,
It's through God's mercy that its readily given.
