Close As A Promise

Close As A Promise
by Michael Doyle

When the world drags us apart,
I hope it is, you'll keep me in your heart.
Despite a world of endless treasons,
I find that I love you for sentimental reasons.

Your love shapes my fragile soul,
Like the irresistible beat of rock-n-roll.
And I find that given my chance,
I'd love my life to be our dance.

Holding you close as a promise,
The kind of promise met with a kiss.
If it's up to me, you'll stay the same,
Even to the day that you wear my name.

All these miles lived between,
It is that they don't mean anything,
Because as it has been from the start,
I'll always hold you in my heart.

All these times, pass slowly by,
And I don't want you to cry.
But I miss you more than you know.
I promise, I'll never let you go.

Holding you close as a promise,
The kind of promise met with a kiss.
If it's up to me, you'll stay the same,
Even to the day that you wear my name.

I feel your heartbeat,
Every time our eyes meet.
And I know that I love you,
In everything that you do.

The times that we're together,
These couldn't be better.
Even though we want them to,
I am so in love with you.

Holding you close as a promise,
The kind of promise met with a kiss.
If it's up to me, you'll stay the same,
Even to the day that you wear my name.
