Grown Into Purpose

In all times, God grows us with purpose,
So that we are fit to perform our service.
Conformed as we are in God's holy wisdom,
All that we serve well in Heaven's kingdom.

The Prophet Elisha fit into this sort of frame
He served his good purpose despite his name.
Elijah and Elisha were prophetic bookends,
There were enough stories to have made them friends.

Lives are lived openly and on display,
How we live sets our example more than we say.
Faith arrives in its spiritual confluence,
The example given is, indeed, our only influence.

Life is either learned in sincere imitation,
Or it is limited by the fallacies of observation.
Imitating Paul as he imitated Christ isn't arrogance.
It is, indeed, a matter of correct observance.

Elisha's story demonstrates the use of the ordinary
To push the limits and truly become extraordinary.
12 teams of oxen point to Elisha's financial security.
Yet, wealth does not rescue life from its obscurity.

The truth of life is the price that was paid on the cross,
To love Christ as God is the victory that has no loss.
To give your life of worth into giving Christian service
Is to finally understand life's truest sense of purpose.

Each of us walks this world in our mantle of authority.
It is in this that we learn to recognize God's sovereignty.
This, then, details the difference in one another's calling.
From the mother's womb God has known our precise falling.

Falling into who exactly we are each meant to be.
This is the extraordinary way of what we're yet to see.
A large part of God's plan is that we walk in love,
Realizing that those around us are also loved by God above.

Our greater prayers by which we start out each day
Is that the Lord God find use for us that given day.
Our prayers aren't meant to ask for a blessing each day,
It is to gratefully be a righteous servant in every way.

Our path is to be surrender, sacrifice, and service.
It's only in this way that we live up to our purpose.
In this surrender, there will be no going back,
And in taking on the mantle of God, there is no fade to black.
