Ezekiel: In the Order of God

Ezekiel: In the Order of God
by Michael Doyle

Life is filled with the unexpected
When blessings feel more like being rejected.
This happened to Ezekiel, too,
And life comes hard as it happens to you.

Living through the Babylonian Exile,
It must have felt like an endless mile.
Certain as they were, they'd lost their nation
Until the Lord permitted Israel its restoration.

Down in the valley of dry bones,
The Israelites must have felt all alone.
Certain that bones alone cannot live,
This is when we learn what God can give.

We give to the Lord what we didn't know
And then we wait for the Lord to show.
This brings together what feels impossible.
This is the miracle of which only God is capable.

Disorder and chaos become restoration
As the Word of God becomes the explanation,
And Order comes into God's sacred place.
Our lives and relationships know God's grace.

The power of God comes through His communication
As an unstoppable force bound by His relation.
The legacy given is something beyond clever.
It is found in God's Word, enduring forever.

Wearing these words becomes our lifestyle.
It will get us through any burdensome mile.
The breath of life proves itself necessary
To bring the needed life that is legendary.

The Holy Spirit brings God's authority
From beginning to end, the Spirit's true dignity.
However little it is that we understand,
The Spirit is God's presence over our land.

The Spirit of God becomes and is what is necessary.
Without this, the Holy Church has lost its dignity.
But with the Breath of God, we learn to live,
And in this purpose, we find what God will give.

It's in the Spirit that we follow God's laws.
Commissioned, we succeed despite our sinful flaws.
We are capable of much in God's guiding Hour,
As long as we give our struggles to God's healing power.

Standing on God's promises, I can stand firm.
My life's purposes are such that I can confirm.
Strong winds can sometimes come to blow,
But God, not culture, is what we live by and know.

The tears of our lives are our history,
And sometimes our belief comes with mystery.
Still, as we stand, we do so in God's healing power.
Life is breathed into us in this bold hour.
