Living My Identity

Living My Identity
by Michael Doyle

Looking for a church,
I have definitely decided
That I cannot live
As a man divided.

All of me as I am
Wishes to love and serve.
As I see Christ's life and learn
I see what is righteous and I deserve.

To live by faith as shown
However wild the winds are blown.
The Word leads the way
Filling every moment of every day.

Like Jesus, so few really know me,
I keep my mind on what is holy.
Perhaps there can be too much familiarity
When mixed in the memory of friends and family.

There is really nothing left to prove.
I felt compelled to make this move.
Taking up my cross, found dutifully,
I have disappeared but go on living joyfully.

I have left people too far down.
Yet, always seek to shake Jesus's crown.
I refuse to live God's love in compromise
And do my best to live on God's promise.

Though my life is not lived for glory,
It is lived to follow and worship His story.
Giving what is not recognized in this given mile
I take each step in its present smile.

God has provided my identity.
All of the rest of my living is for sincerity.
Life is not to be lived for a finished line.
What is God's is God's and could never be mine.

And the thing is, and this is okay,
It is the secret of how I live my day.
All that I live and love is to give.
It is because Heaven's finish line is what I live.

Living the church is my truest liberty.
It is where I find my living security.
I share this with you, receiving all mystery.
I offer this as my statement of my Christian identity.
