Unbreaking the Broke

Unbreaking the Broke
by Michael Doyle

All victories carry costs incomparable.
Some of these are blatantly unbearable.
Still, battles against monsters must be won
If the worst evil is to become undone.

Cartel leaders order innocents to death,
Without pause, in a sinful breath.
Signaling death warrants as a device,
These death lords are careless with their vice.

How do you unbreak the broke?
Words shattered as a brave man spoke.
Looking on his woman's grave,
The love of his life, he couldn't save.

Like musical scores played on deadly violins,
The blood flows from crime-related violence.
It's just the cost of doing this sort of business.
It's nothing personal if it's all blandly faceless.

Forget the subtle nuances and chilling allegories,
Murder for hire and rampantly unfolding horror stories
Have no other reason but to kill for misbegotten thrill.
These kinds of monsters have a view to the kill.

How do you unbreak the broke?
Words shattered as a brave man spoke.
Looking on his woman's grave,
The love of his life, he couldn't save.

Where there is now deep grief, there was deep love.
Those who survive seek solace in prayer to the above.
The ghosts of their memories walk beside us every day.
Those left living carry on because there is no other way.

The politicians have a lot of excuses they keep giving,
While the rest of us carry on the business of living.
Fear is the currency on which these monsters feed,
Only by escaping addiction will humanity be freed.

How do you unbreak the broke?
Words shattered as a brave man spoke.
Looking on his woman's grave,
The love of his life, he couldn't save.
