True Riches

True Riches
by Michael Doyle

Just next door lived my brother,
Across the hall was my mother.
My father was always out to sea,
But home is where he'd long to be.

I think back on these times,
Filled with their easier rhymes.
As I stand here falling for you
And knowing your love in all you do.

The truest riches we could afford
Came from the love that we adored.
To know love and to be as family,
Are the best love we'll ever see.

Never underestimate the power of touch.
It's the little things that say so much.
Being heard is weak compared to listening,
It's the spell of love that's glistening.

A kind word followed by a smile,
Will never fade or go out of style.
As we learn those loving ways
That lead us to our life's loving days.

The truest riches we could afford
Came from the love that we adored.
To know love and to be as family,
Are the best love we'll ever see.

Love enters to turn our lives around.
The pleasant moments surprisingly abound.
And as we've learned to love and reach,
The example that we give, our lives preach.

The best of love is that which we give.
In doing so, we have truly learned to live.
An indelible imprint remains in our memory.
It began in the arms of our loving family.

The truest riches we could afford
Came from the love that we adored.
To know love and to be as family,
Are the best love we'll ever see.
