The poet fought against fame again Thinking only of peace found in Zen Seeking quiet life in a monastery But the truth faced turned out contrary
Death on two legs stole no small amount Leaving Cohen with nothing in his account This is the ethics of jaded Hollywood The essence of fame as it's understood
Emotions felt across the generational divide Images become darker as reality starts to collide The dealer deals the hand played out as a game In need of a healer, the star was broken and lame
Canonized for dying a deity's death Unwanted fans sang along to his last breath Watching angels fall gave him his insight Struggling creatures still seek the light
Garrulous excess sketches a beautiful symphony Of a life lived never expecting any sympathy Forced into the role of the archangel turned star While simply bending words blended with guitar
Emotions felt across the generational divide Images become darker as reality starts to collide The dealer deals the hand played out as a game In need of a healer, the star was broken
Over and over, he slipped away from stardom unseduced He was never caught up in the demanded numbers produced Carefully guarding his muse, he disallowed from being reduced However much others wished the poet might be induced
On the shelf stands a catalog of songs of experience Ordinary enough, though expressed as if sedated preference Hid a secret wealth of private failures stacked tall Of which his heart's song played out as he simply recalled
Emotions felt across the generational divide Images become darker as reality starts to collide The dealer deals the hand played out as a game In need of a healer, the star was broken

We find our safety and security In what brings us true liberty To live our lives as we want to be This is the path of living free
We pass some things on as a legacy The Bible reflects this complexity It's a love letter to teach us love Following God's ways shown from above
Facing forward into the future with gratitude We look at the Bible with our childlike attitudes The Bible preserves His chosen people's history And provides the secrets of the revealed mystery
Along with the history are the books of the law Bringing rules and guidance to readily recall Family rules that bring us together in unity It's been like this throughout our history
It's these things that start our relationship And builds the path to our best worship We are to live in freedom but to do real good As servants of God, this is certainly understood
We will choose the ways we will live And God will nearly always forgive If we are to live best, we will follow God's ways And if we follow this plan, we will have our best days
Life to the fullest, living as we've been taught This road map is the one we've always sought The Bible is a love story between God and man All we need to do is to follow His plans
1600 years of truth in one full measure Rests in the words of God's greatest treasure Giving percepts of joy and teaching what's right There is great reward in keeping this in our sight
The Bible was kept in a constant state of purity Hidden in the heart as a matter of utmost surety God's word is to be written on the heart and mind It is sight given in a world of the bitter and blind
In the dust of the rabbi, pious students learned Until they knew right enough for God to be discerned How do we bring an expectancy of how it is that we grow And through God's love, we learn in stillness then to know
There are some filters that will teach us best To be successful in our life's constant flow of tests God's breath is written and spoken to teach Every possible person who seeks God to be reached
And trained to this in holy and godly ways It is so that we can find our steps in these days Loving the Lord with all our heart and strength Throughout every day's most prolonged sense of length
Loving the Lord God as He's held in your heart To find your best finish from the very start This is a prayer of humility and gratitude That brings us closest to our best attitudes

“Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” – Peter 2:1-2 (NIV)
Feeling unworthy of God's touch I felt I was asking too much Until I heard and then I read Of the holy things that were said
God of all things came to save Lifting me from my fated grave Slowly changing the path that I was on His loving kindness worked until sin was gone
As the path that was walking And I became then the man who was talking Worn down until conformed by His pages The king of kings is the rock of all ages
I praise Him for setting me free Salvation and hope became my theology The God of second chances threw a lifeline Into a life lived in emotional landmines
In a life born in free-flow violence The Lion of Judah roared through the silence To take away feelings of blame and shame To set me free through His love that came

Heading out of Australia to escape this Aussie winter. First stop Japan, then UK/Ireland and if work doesn't call me back, onto Chicago. I will make it up as I go along
