On the Journey of Fatherhood

On the Journey of Fatherhood
by Michael Doyle

Asked about how fatherhood is rated
It has seemed to me somewhat understated
I could not have imagined the journey
That it has been in all of its totality

When you talk about consequences and morality
Fatherhood is the one thing that has me most happy
In all ways, the birth of my beautiful daughters
And their lives after have brought me to be the father

Step by step, mostly who I'd like to be the most
Knowing that they matter most and I don't want to boast
But I think they've taught me lessons I needed to learn
At least, that's what I think and believe that I discern

My heart has become a masterpiece of part of nature
As I have grown, and they have grown, each to mature
Becoming the persons that we are destined to be
Each of them is a superstar, and me? And I'm just Daddy

I carry their pictures where my money used to be
It's the best kind of wealth. I'll never know poverty
My soul is rich and filled with their abundant love
Yes, it's one of the best gifts given from Heaven above

It has taken me a lifetime to learn my parents were right
I'm reminded of this every time that I am hugged tight
Until my last breath, I will be content in the love that's glowing
In the love given and received, always, forever knowing

First Principles: Liberty Is Not To Be Enjoyed, Indeed It Cannot Exist, Without the Habits of Just Subordination; It Consists, Not So Much In Removing All Restraint From the Orderly, As In Imposing It On the Violent

“Liberty is not to be enjoyed, indeed it cannot exist, without the habits of just subordination; it consists, not so much in removing all restraint from the orderly, as in imposing it on the violent.” – Fisher Ames (1801)

Twice now they have sought to assassinate Trump. This must not be allowed to be a trend. Add this to Maricopa, and realize something is very amiss.

Thought For the Day: I Cannot Think of Any Need In Childhood As Strong As the Need For a Father’s Protection

Hymn of the Taken Heart

Hymn of the Taken Heart
by Michael Doyle

There's a lot to be done
I do it through the Son
Hailing Jesus as the king
I lift my voice and sing

Bending like a tree in a hurricane
Hoping for blessed salvation that came
To teach me the ways of love
As I am led to from up above

It's true. He loves us all
If we'd only listen to His call
In His mercy, we are given
Through redemption, we're forgiven

Turning in my path, I am made new
The same repentance can happen for you
His love is blessed and forever true
We know this in all He's done and will do

It's a beautiful truth to know
As we're drawn from the shadow
Pursued into the brightness of light
To know we, too, can get this right

It's true. He loves us all
If we'd only listen to His call
In His mercy, we are given
Through redemption, we're forgiven

Cats, Dogs, and Pizza

Cats, Dogs, and Pizza
by Michael Doyle

There's a storm brewing between right and wrong
And where it is that we are best and truly belong
Moreso, we struggle to know ourselves in identity
And what furry and non-furry friends to keep as our family

People like us get lost in our minute hesitations
Puzzling over pizza on the obscure, unneeded questions
Questions like if a cat or dog is truly the better
And preferences for periods of change and weather

Does it make us better people to care for another?
Does it have to be human or maybe something other?
Pets remind us of our outward sense of obligation
They also bring us love in their undying affection

Lingering as I am over my second pizza slice
I meander in my words as to how it's something nice
And it doesn't really matter whether dog or cat
I have known people who are in love with alley rats

As Twain said, dogs are a gentleman's gentleman
And cats, they too, they do whatever they can
To look after us inferior creatures who are needy
Always needing more love and forever a bit greedy

Many find that simply watching cats makes them happy
It seems even when they find them sleepy and nappy
There is something about a kitten that removes pretense
And petting affectionate cats makes most less tense

Dogs are beacons of perceptible unconditional love
It is as if God sent down angels from Heaven above
True happiness is a warm puppy unrestrained by a leash
Each walk becomes a masterpiece of unrehearsed pastiche

Dogs own their sense of space, and cats own time
Each of these deserves their own sense of rhyme
Dogs only want to love and be loved; cats need worship
Each offers their own sense of familial relationship

There is no real doubt our pets are our family
We free ourselves in compassion for their beauty
The whole of nature is filled with thought and feeling
Only a blind man would not be sent headfirst reeling

With the simplest moments of outside observation
Love of our fellow animals is cause for celebration
Grateful and loyal, they set standards to live up to
That is if we dare too, in the loneliness of me and you

First Principles: If Congress Can Do Whatever In Their Discretion Can Be Done By Money, and Will Promote the General Welfare, the Government Is No longer A Limited One, Possessing Enumerated Powers

“If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.” – James Madison (1792)
