First Principles: No Legislated Act, Therefore, Contrary to the Constitution, Can Be Valid

“[E]very act of a delegated authority, contrary to the tenor of the commission under which it is exercised, is void. No legislative act, therefore, contrary to the Constitution, can be valid. To deny this, would be to affirm, that the deputy is greater than his principal; that the servant is above his master; that the representatives of the people are superior to the people themselves; that men acting by virtue of powers, may do not only what their powers do not authorize, but what they forbid.” – Alexander Hamilton

Thought For the Day: Idleness, Like Kisses, To Be Sweet Must Be Stolen

“It is impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly unless one has plenty of work to do. There is no fun in doing nothing when you have nothing to do. Wasting time is merely an occupation then, and a most exhausting one. Idleness, like kisses, to be sweet must be stolen.” – Jerome K. Jerome, humorist and playwright (2 May 1859-1927)

In This Love’s Connection

In This Love's Connection
by Michael Doyle

What's it going to be like
The moment that we touch
When the electricity reveals us
Will it be too much

When you think of me
Will I feel it in my soul
We know that it's supposed to be
As my rock shakes your roll

All that love you have to give
I believe in the dreams we've yet to live
God has moved me in your direction
This is the truth of this love's connection

I can only imagine the hour
We'll meet under God's power
And know that we're meant to be
There's a bow on the box that sets me free

I reach out my hand for yours forever
Shaking in my boots and less than clever
Surprised that it has taken me this long
For this feeling to hit me this strong

All that love you have to give
I believe in the dreams we've yet to live
God has moved me in your direction
This is the truth of this love's connection

It's come down to the wire
With my heart filled with desire
We can't take this any higher
Our hearts have fallen into love's fire

There's power in the words we say
This love is not another crazy game to play
There's a special magic in our every day
Please be the one that will never go away

All the love you have to give
I believe in the dreams we've yet to live
God has moved me in your direction
This is the truth of our love's connection

The sweet grace that is calling
From the constellations that are falling
Yours is the love I feel from the inside
My need for you is something I can't hide

It's a decision moved beyond choice
Made so easy by the love in your sweet voice
There's that electric in your divine kiss
I thank the Lord that I will not miss

All the love we have yet to give
I believe in the dreams we've get to live
God has moved us in each other's direction
This is the truth of our love's connection

Worthy Of Our Praise

Worthy of Our Praise
by Michael Doyle

All of our best days
Begin by giving God praise
As the blindest eyes see
The blessings of the Trinity

Giving our all is what we bring
Here together as we sing
Not as moments of platitude
But moved by righteous gratitude

To worship in our voice
Worshipped by our free choice
Recognizing the way God moves
And things He always proves

In the promises He keeps
As our eyes weep
Knowing the miracle in His Son
And everything He has done

In the darkness, He is light
Bringing His words into our night
The rainmaker blesses our day
God alone is worthy of our praise

The Click Inside the Moment

The Click Inside the Moment
by Michael Doyle

Strangers showboating the skills
Probably don't have the thrills
They talk about so profusely
These things shouldn't be said loosely

Still, we come into the room
With exploding feelings that loom
And I know that your pros outweigh your cons
Until you're colored me gone

I just want to hold on all night long
The feelings moving me can't be wrong
I just want to love you all night long
My heart keeps its double-time beating strong

It shocks me how we talk
As along the beach we walk
I hold you close inside my mind
Knowing there's no one else I'll find

I hear the words that you say
No one's moved me this way
All your positives check the box
Laying it down across the locks

I just want to hold on all night long
These feelings moving me can't be wrong
I just want to love you all night long
My heart keeps its double-time beating strong

Let's make this our journey
Where the last steps lead to being happy
We've known it since we left the gate
We were each others' reasons to wait

Validated and believing in each other
It's as if we were made for one another
The feelings make me feel beyond elated
This kind of love will be celebrated

I just want to hold on all night long
These feelings moving me can't be wrong
I just need to love you all night long
My heart keeps its double-time beating strong

In the end, the cards will show
How our friendship and love will flow
I hear it in your words, it's the same
This moment for us so quietly came

Your kiss is the kiss of my lifetime
I don't even care if my words rhyme
We've held on to find our end
My heart is safe in your love, my best friend

First Principles: When I Contemplate the Immense Advances In Science and Discoveries In the Arts Which Have Been Made With the Periods of My Life, I Look Forward With Confidence To Equal Advances

“When I contemplate the immense advances in science and discoveries in the arts which have been made within the period of my life, I look forward with confidence to equal advances by the present generation, and have no doubt they will consequently be as much wiser than we have been as we than our fathers were, and they than the burners of witches.” – Thomas Jefferson
