Cracking Hearts Into Holiness

Driftwood Presents - Kingdom hearts -Ancient Wounds of A Darkened Heart
Cracking Hearts Into Holiness
by Michael Doyle

The temptations that we face
Are common to others as we embrace
God's family, and begin to share
This walk of love in all that we care

Indifference and hurt build the walls
That hardens us, until we recall
Our need to renew our daily walk
It emanates in each of us as we talk

That as vessels of clay, spoiled and rebuilt
By the potter's hands, it's revealed
And illustrated in ways we can understand
The journey of God that is already planned

By God, we are shaped and formed in our hearts
To become among the best of God's precious art
Formed from this sacred Eden's good clay
As God created mankind from Earth that day

God formed us physically and also as spiritual
Beings meant to cultivate God's habits as habitual
Yet still, God provided each of us with free will
We remain malleable by God in every aspect of detail

It's the if of the then that requires humility
The faithfulness of a mustard seed brings divinity
Into the moments of life among even the least of mankind
That is except for those who are hardened and blind

The heart of Christ bleeds and cries out for mankind
Seeking the redemption of even those who are blind
Because of this, we should keep pliable to His ways
If we are to live out the best of our mortal days

It's a struggle of faith that begins with history
Yet the miracles shown speak past any mystery
God's promises to humanity have always been here
As His works move us from the here to the there

It's the daily lives of us that become set in routines
That become traps of comfort that are self-sufficient as seen
We need to shake ourselves out of the web of comfort zones
And learn to keep in mind that we don't walk life alone

Surrender, not knowledge, reveals our days of morality
Past the blind spots of life into true spirituality
These are the necessary steps that create transformation
Necessary to walk among the best of God's creations

It starts with the conviction that leads to repentance
In a world that can be hard and often relentless
We learn to soften our hearts to conformance with God's ways
This then leads us to our best and holiest days

First Principles: No Temptation Has Overtaken You Except What Is Common To Mankind

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

On Which Life Depends

Duran Duran — Tower of Hades -Skulls & Roses
On Which Life Depends
by Michael Doyle

We play games aimed to please
As we touch and you tease
Showing me your personal spaces
And touching me with your traces

These linger inside my mind
Yours is the touch that I've wanted to find
I am in a sense ruled by the passion
Caused by you and by me...put into action

We stumble through the paces
Pursuing the usual places
Each of us wanting to be closer than we were
Walking through the emotions as a blur

Fearing you might melt me with your heat
Here in these places that we've come to meet
I am getting used to your presence and feelings
All of this sending my heart reeling

It was the summer of our love spent
Never understanding where it went
Sharing our night of dancing and shots
Picking the romances of loves like forget-me-nots

We put to quiet practice our sensuality
Putting aside any sense or use for practicality
As we came together simply to explore
The bonds and limits to pushed through to you and me

Looking through the mirrored reflection
Each touch of ours finding its own connection
The places your body ends and mine begins
Is the everything on which life itself depends

Righteousness In Political Graces

Bella's Lullaby - Lighthouse On Goose Island
Righteousness In Political Graces
by Michael Doyle

Some leave God in the cradle of His birth
Though He's shown us His love and worth
Some have left God hanging on the cross
But that's only to their sorrow and loss

It's the rolling of the stone and empty tomb
In which we find ourselves the grace and room
Of growing through the knowing God's true love
And learning to best walk as if led from above

Many haven't minded breaking the social graces
In giving life her all in their profound traces
Such is the promise of the King's celebration
That the fragrances were poured on in jubilation

Life comes at us, as it does, with its distractions
In all its deeds, misdeeds, and in all actions
While the Lord reigns above us as supreme
Above the lesser kings who try to rob us of our dreams

In all of God's great and holy goodness and in His grace
Our faith impacts our lives led and the politics we embrace
Finding His will amidst the plurality of all humanity
We must choose wisely and face our days graced with humility

First Principles: Liberty Cannot Be Preserved Without A General Knowledge Among the People, Who Have A Right…To Knowledge

“Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know.” – John Adams, in Dissertation on the Cannon and Feudal Law

Each Moment’s Thankfulness

Tequila Bae Beach - A Meditation On Sunny Pleasures
Each Moment's Thankfulness
by Michael Doyle

In this world folded into blindness
Too many have forgotten kindness
I think it begins with gratitude
Looking on the world with right attitude

Before this, there is the participation
That slowly seeps into relaxation
Peace comes with every breath taken
Allowing this feeling to not be shaken

In finding gratitude, we find happiness
This is the moment first filled with bliss
Connecting to each breath, we find the pace
The pace that knows its own loving embrace

Shoulders and body soften into the now
As we exhale the tension of the somehow
Simply being only in this moment of seeing
In the appreciation of being simply a human being

It is the what of who we are meant to be
And simply seeing what we are meant to see
Thankful for all that comes to fulfill life
And easing our way out of self-made strife
