In My Darkest Times

In My Darkest Times
by Michael Doyle

In my darkest times
When I'm all out of rhymes
You hold me in your holy palm
Keeping me safe and calm

You pulled the Savior out of His grave
With all you are and do to save
Jesus, you've always amazed
Even when I stood there dazed

Wondering what I'd do next
Just a collection of dots and no connects
You've shown up with faithful grace
Restoring hope to my anguished face

Without your love, there would be no trace
Of love felt in all of time and space
As you share your truth with those like me
Opening our hearts to every possibility

Thought For the Day: The Supreme Ethical Rule: Act So As To Elicit the Best In Others and Thereby In Thyself

“The Supreme Ethical Rule: Act so as to elicit the best in others and thereby in thyself.” -Felix Adler, professor, lecturer, and reformer (13 Aug 1851-1933)

Why is it so hard for paid journalists to follow these ethical rules?

First Principles: Though I Walk Through the Darkest Valley, I Will Fear No Evil

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalms 23:1-4 (NIV )

To Yet Believe

Fantasy Faire - Isle of Shadows - Shipwrecked Under A Blue Sun
To Yet Believe
by Michael Doyle

Confused by shadows
We wonder at what we know
To the heavens and to below
We feint at what we might know

Perhaps spoken dreams
Are our best quests
The impossible, so it seems
Gives us our best tests

To fight to right the wrongs
To keep trying when weary
The heart of the dreamer belongs
To the best and not the leery

Destiny yet reveals and calls
To the brave hearts of glory
One more dream that we must recall
Bringing the end of this knight's story

A prayer falls as if a flowing tear
When earnest hearts find their home
At the end of all our passing years
And Heaven is made his final home

The greatest gift one might give
Is the courage to the down-at-heart
That they, too, might believe and live
As they should have from the start

Thought For the Day: As Compared With Impulsive Commitment To the First Idea Which Dawns, That Is, With Intuitive Action, Reasoning Is Patient, Exploratory of Other Possibilities, and Deliberative

“As compared with impulsive commitment to the first idea which dawns, that is, with intuitive action, reasoning is patient, exploratory of other possibilities, and deliberative.” – Edwin Arthur Burtt (1892-1989)

Anger Blocks the Way

War -Shake the World
Anger Blocks the Way
by Michael Doyle

Anger
Seals away
Steals away
Keeps away
Love

Until the day
We learn to say
That which must be said
Hope will be dead
With disappointment

Danger
Rules our decisions
Without precision
With the derision
Keeping our hearts in indecision

We lose our way...

The past is future
As we make our way
There to stay
In that faraway
That is our appointment

To see with clarity
With all sincerity
In all integrity
Of true authenticity
We can build our tomorrows

As we put away our sorrow
And regain the morrow
For the straight and narrow
Guided like an arrow
Whose flight is true

Darkness
Seeks to find light
And hold on tight
To make life once again right
Now and forever more

The Fight For Nobility

t a b u l a r a s a by Theda Tammas
The Fight For Nobility
by Michael Doyle

To fight for nobility
Often causes many to lose
In life's lack of sensibility
Which comes though we refuse

The Spanish Inquisition
Had its inglorious power
That it used without hesitation
To rule any given hour

Madmen and poets
Have much in common
Even when they don't know it
Each confused by prevailing in

The question is not why
Each of has never lived
Everyone is born to die
But let each of us have lived

In the moments we live
Let us be noble and true
Despite all that life might give
We can rebuild the world, me and you

We can live for nobility
Despite what poses for truth
This world in its brutality
Can be the dreams of our youth

In the end, when death comes
The knights will finally live
The truth that we might all become
If, in our lives, we might truly give

The mirror reveals our true reality
Seen plainly as life is true
There is only the grasp at nobility
This is the best of me and of you

The judges of the deadly inquisition
Strike the fool for desiring to believe
That we might shape our destinations
When the world cures broken dreams of desire

Idle talk in life at its best
Yet, we must dare to still dream
The proverbs have been passed to test
And dreams are only as real as these seem
