First Principles: Liberty Must At All Hazards Be Supported. We Have A Right To It, Derived From Our Maker

“Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.” -John Adams, 1765

Thought For the Day: There Exists A Law…Inborn In Our Hearts…If Our Lives Are Endangered…Any and Every Method of Protecting Ourselves Is Morally Right

“There exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 B.C.)

First Principles: When We Assumed the Soldier, We Did Not Lay Aside the Citizen

“When we assumed the soldier, we did not lay aside the citizen; and we shall most sincerely rejoice with you in the happy hour when the establishment of American Liberty, upon the most firm and solid foundations shall enable us to return to our private stations in the bosom of a free, peaceful and happy country.” – George Washington (1775)

On A Friendship

Rivendell -Sky Light Dancers
On A Friendship
by Michael Doyle

Friendship is like a story
A melody that catches and belongs
There in the ways of trust
Is a love that grows as it must

Children play at their games
We play our own, just the same
Believing in things hard to believe
In the world's wonders so hard to conceive

We walk life's trials together
Knowing this is the way that is better
Each of us carrying the other's load
As travel down a seeming purgatory road

Always searching for peace that eludes
Even as the rudeness of life intrudes
Lights sparkle across our known skies
Like love celebrated before our eyes

“I hope that we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.” – Thomas Jefferson

Dark Matters

First Day At the New Home - We Have the Couch Moved In ;-)
Dark Matters
by Michael Doyle

You were my bright tomorrow
Now all I have is my sorrow
And I've only myself to blame
Please don't look at me in my shame

Feelings bubbled up in trouble
I opened my mouth, now its double
I can barely see through my tears
I've lost again to my fears

It seems like only yesterday
I had all I wanted and pushed you away
There is no way to fix this mess
All that's left is what I do confess

I'm sorry for my many imperfections
I try to keep them boxed up like collections
But it looks like some have spilled out
Behind my usual brave face is anxiety and doubt

It's a feeling quietly post-traumatic
And I don't mean to be this dramatic
The pain inside my heart seems here to stay
Because, I know that I've pushed you away

Feelings bubbled up in trouble
I opened my mouth, now it's double
I can barely see through my tears
I've lost again to my fears

It seems like only yesterday
I had all I wanted and pushed you away
There is no way to fix this mess
All that's left is what I do confess

Like a tidal wave, it got too deep
And now it seems I've become that creep
Trying t fight my way to the surface again
Where at least maybe I can be my friend

Darkness, darkness, it surrounds me
This confusion inside, it confounds me
Doing my best attempt to stumble through
The cost of this is the unbearable loss of you

Feelings bubbled up in trouble
I opened my mouth, now it's double
I can barely see through my tears
I've lost again to my fears

It seems like only yesterday
I had all I wanted and pushed you away
There is no way to fix this mess
All that's left is what I do confess

Happy Labor Day to All!

It’s Labor Day, USA! Take some time off and do that work tomorrow. The rest of the world celebrates another day. I, for one, am glad that we distinguish ourselves. Soo.. crank up the barbecues, grill a few, drink a cool, frosty beverage of choice (mine is only a carbonated flavored water) and enjoy this day of recognition for all that you do!

Club Handy

Sunset Pavilion - Elvis Presley Tribute - Elivis is in the Building
Club Handy
by Michael Doyle

Every showman is a trickster
A sophisticated and tragically hipster
Leaving the girls with smiles on their faces
Moving them deeply with his traces

It's a carnival of scam
Putting on the ritualistic glam
With bated breath ready to fly
As heartbreak paints the sky

Rivers of money begin to flow
It's on with the monkeys in the show
Whispers of the day, tell their tale
Merchandising every sort of sell

Playing riffs with hopeful high class
Howling at the colonel's shady past
Shaken hips that move and mesmerize
The danger sizzles before mama's eyes

God given gifts so misunderstood
Life on the road is just no good
Everyone says who the king should be
Club Handy cries its blues, dirty and gritty

First Principles: Yet To All Who Did Receive Him, To Those Who Believed In His Name, He Gave the Right To Become Children of God

“ Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God —  children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” – John1:12-13
