Thought For the Day: Many People Take No Care of Their Money Till They Come Nearly To the End of It, and Others Do Just the Same With Their Time

River Rain

Aurelias Rainy Cafe - Saylor Square Gray Stone
River Rain
by Michael Doyle

As a gift from the Creator
The rain fills into the river
Bringing new life just begun
With a toss of dice, it's won

Like a raindrop fills the creek
Words become love we dare to speak
Spilling out like a timeless river
Into the ocean's depths delivered

Anticipation of a rain river
Makes lovers shake and shiver
Becoming oceans from streams
A mother smiles as a father dreams

Questions asked fill a dreamer's head
Like the book of life waiting to be read
Into the best of lives, rain will fall
And if you listen close, love will call

Simply tested like a theory
A child's voice calls out in query
Repining back into the past
Love like dice have been cast

Anticipation of a rain river
Makes lovers shake and shiver
Becoming oceans from streams
A mother smiles as a father dreams

Like a raindrop fills the creek
Words become love we dare to speak
Spilling out like a timeless river
Into the ocean's depths delivered

As a gift from the Creator
The rain spills into the river
Bringing new life as love just begun
Handheld lovers spy the rising sun

Anticipation of a rain river
Makes Lovers shake and shiver
Becoming oceans from streams
A mother smiles as a father dreams

Thought For the Day: There Is Not Less Wit Nor Less Invention In Applying Rightly A Thought One Finds In A Book, Than In Being the First Author of That Thought

“There is not less wit nor less invention in applying rightly a thought one finds in a book, than in being the first author of that thought.” – Pierre Bayle, philosopher and writer (1647-1706)

First Principles: Justice Is the End of Government. It Is the End of Civil Society

“Justice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society. It ever has been and ever will be pursued until it be obtained, or until liberty be lost in the pursuit.” – James Madison

First Principles: The Principle of the Constitution Is That of A Separation of Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary Functions, Except In Cases Specified

“The principle of the Constitution is that of a separation of legislative, Executive and Judiciary functions, except in cases specified. If this principle be not expressed in direct terms, it is clearly the spirit of the Constitution, and it ought to be so commented and acted on by every friend of free government.” – Thomas Jefferson (1797)

How then has the power of the administrative agencies grown so large and unruly?

Thought For the Day: When Our Divisions Become So Deep That Civil Discourse Can No Longer Mend What Has Unraveled, We Need To Tread Carefully

“When our divisions become so deep that civil discourse can no longer mend what has unraveled, we need to tread carefully. … How can a nation remain intact when large parts of the population have absolutely nothing in common with each other regarding how they see the world? Limited government and individual freedom are the classic American answers. Unfortunately, we seem to be going in the opposite direction.” – Star Parker

Waters of Life

The Mystic Realms -Dire Waters
Waters of Life
by Michael Doyle

Navigating the waters of life
From dreams of others comes late
The sacrifices are not in vain
For the dreams and nightmares on the main

To open one's eyes and see
The rebirth needed for eternity
Dreaming of the endless night
The one who is three brings the light

Each rebirth comes from the rain
While immortality is for the vain
Where there are no answers to be found
It in this tangled web, the future is bound

There it is in the tale that Lucifer fell
As just one more death made home in Hell
Seeking to know if all days are the same
Is it pride or avarice that is to blame

First victim, first murder, first story
Cain killing Abel is the nature of fallen glory
Mornings have most meaning for those with sight
Like murders of ravens cawing into endless night

What could possibly go wrong
In this eternal quest for where we belong
Dreams and nightmares lurch into waking world
Talons of blood grip the battle flag unfurled

First Principles: Charity Is No Part of the Legislative Duty of the Government

“Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government.” – James Madison (1794)

I have no idea why followers of the Constitution and the rule of law would have any problem with a singular executive order that did not comply with the requirements of the Administrative Procedures Act placing all taxpaying citizens on the accrued debt of others while some of these taxpayers did not go to college because they could not afford to do so and others still simply chose other working paths, do you?
