“Neither genius, fame, nor love show the greatness of the soul. Only kindness can do that.” -Jean Baptiste Henri Lacordaire, preacher, journalist, and activist (12 May 1802-1861)

Pragmatic Inferences

LEA1: Art, Language Subsistence - Grabbing A Handful of Heated Notes Just To Play Them With A Smile
Pragmatic Inferences
by Michael Doyle

Pragmatic inferences
Have all the meaning
To communicating
As a human being

Systematic rules
To all that we are saying
Laid out
Like cards that we are playing

Garden paths
Of quiet accident
Show a map
Of living inside this incident

We fill out and in
Our partial perceptions
Blind spots
That trigger false reception

In a duality of patterns
Arbitrary symbols
Given out in smatterings
Of meanings we might yet share

First Principles: The Sacred Rights of Mankind…Are Written…In the Whole Volume of Human Nature, By the Hand of the Divinity Itself

“The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, as with a sun beam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” – Alexander Hamilton (1775)

Thought For the Day: The Difference Between False Memories and True Ones Is the Same As For Jewels: It Is Always the False Ones That Look the Most Real, The Most Brilliant

“The difference between false memories and true ones is the same as for jewels: it is always the false ones that look the most real, the most brilliant.” -Salvador Dali, painter (11 May 1904-1989)

In Ceremony

Okinawa Winter Festival -Shopping Never Was My Thing
In Ceremony
by Michael Doyle

Beyond money and fear
There is an underlying trust
This is the path of loyalty
And without that currency, it is bust

Once broken, there is a penalty
Even among the underground's royalty
it is the price that must be paid
Or all that is stood for begins to fade

In the inner life's flow
One must abandon ego
To reach the state of harmony
There are many paths to this singularity

In which the past doesn't matter
And the ties that bind all shatter
It is only in living this present moment
That detachment becomes permanent

In this quiet moment of grace
It is the way of the warrior to embrace
Until all defects become needed victory
The forms practiced are only a ceremony

Thought For the Day: The Higher Up You Go, the More Mistakes You Are Allowed. Right At the Top, If You Make Enough of Them, It’s Considered To Be Your Style

A Silent Genesis

Tilheyra - The Promise
A Silent Genesis
by Michael Doyle

My new obsession
Has a silent genesis
In the maelstrom
Of ghosts and typhoons

Beyond our bodies
We rest in eupnea
Pure reason's revolution
Flies on the wings of a dead butterfly

Lost in the fathoms
Between the hammer and anvil
Is the dark third
Of poetry filling a void

The bright ambassadors of morning
Serves as apprentices to the universe
In an aeropause of exact color
Hidden among the trembling willows

You can try to reveal the magic
But only the believers will see
In this world of bulitts dominae
Only the stronger do better than to survive
