On Care of the Soul

Impact Mental Health - Spotlight On the Broken Arrows of Time
On the Care of the Soul
by Michael Doyle

With emphasis on heart, soul, and mind
In gaining that which is not to be left behind
Christianity takes its role in the soul game
Gaining the path of life frame by frame

Authenticity may seem like the soft stuff
But tending to the soul is truly the hard stuff
The disturbances within can serve to inform
About those things to which we must conform

An articulation of thoughts and feelings
That something is off can be quite revealing
In the addressing of symptoms over sickness
And changing this must overcome mental thickness

Our souls can find needed rest in our salvation
Removing troubled souls from the ills of gravitation
Sucked into so much that is truly petty and sad
Into the ways that can obtain good even from the bad

It's up to us to reach out and steadily embrace
Those things that we must keep in fullness not trace
That the things that are seemingly must valuable
Are too often that those that are most vulnerable

The divine thumbprint is found in the depths of soul
And is our essence beyond things too often out of control
All can become weary, struggling in need of rest
But if we give our cares to Christ, we will past the test

God's yoke is not a heavy fit; we are precious in His sight
As He sustains us through our darkness into holy light
Placing our trust in who it truly does best belong
Resting well in our gospel of traditions and songs

Resisting Jesus in His Ways is to be resisting a rest
That we could have in Him who knows the outcome of best
Peace that comes to sustain and allow us to thrive
In so doing we faith it through to not just survive but thrive

Exhausted by the pulls and tugs in every sordid direction
We need not force against the tiredness of God's correction
Feeling inadequate and left withering under unfair criticism
Or falling victim to the foul humor passing as witticism

Or in allowing the world's flattery to fill our heads
When we should cross-check, finding ourselves in dread
Unrealistic compliments have their own set of expectations
And are unwise in comparison, split into too many directions

Be instead who you are and as our God has made you
Stewarding in peace all that is meant to be taken in view
What can anyone give worth the exchange of your soul
Doing what is wrong or not meant for you takes its toll

Awaken instead to the fullness of the God of victory
Who brings to each of us, His goodness and grace for free
Stopping the downhill of our skiing with our slight turn
And in this process learning that we must discern

Then it is in learning what is needed to know
There's no exchange that's even when going against the flow
So called gains of feigned progress and prosperity
Are the opposite of this when it costs your integrity

Life moves as it must, to its best and better place
When moving at the peace of a more sustainable pace
The thumbprint of heaven creates in us, our true image
To be kept in the real and not some faked image

God breathed into mankind our everlasting soul
From dust of ground to fulfill our heavenly roles
Every single of of us has a bit of God inside
This then is the part to allow to shine and never hide

Remember, when we hold God and ourselves apart
We lost track of what is the very best part
The thumbprint of God is what brings us to more
Bringing us up into the havens to truly soar

Beneficial Benediction

Fantasy Faire - Cassiopeia Dragon's Flight
Beneficial Benediction
by Michael Doyle

It should really come as no surprise
That when all anyone ever tells is lies
To tell the truth is a revolution
But it's beneficial in our evolution

Don't fear the monsters in your head
Make them afraid of you instead
Like figments of a tortured imagination
We must sleep this dream of machination

Breaking these chains that bind us inside
Despite the comfort of shadows in which we hide
There's no future in clinging to the past
Like a reef wrecked ship in need of its mast

We must regain ourselves to sail again
Between the rocks of all we yet pretend
As a reason to hold us back from our all
It is time instead to rebound off our wall

Speaking truth no matter who else listens
Refusing fool's gold no matter how it glistens
Victory will be, can be, shall be won
If only on this journey we stay as we've begun

Thought For the Day: Only In Washington, DC Do People Seem To Think That Spending Trillions More of Taxpayers’ Money Will Cure Our Problems, Let Alone Inflation

“For months, I have been ringing the alarm bell about inflation. Once again, we are witnessing that the threat of inflation is real. There is not a corner of this nation where hard-working families are able to escape the noticeable impact of this ‘inflation tax.’ Inflation taxes are draining the hard-earned wages of every American, and it’s causing real and severe economic pain that can no longer be ignored. It’s beyond time for the Federal Reserve to tackle this issue head on, and Congress and the Administration must proceed with caution before adding more fuel to an economy already on fire. As inflation and our $30 trillion in national debt continue a historic climb, only in Washington, DC do people seem to think that spending trillions more of taxpayers’ money will cure our problems, let alone inflation. We must get serious about the finances of our country. It’s time we start acting like stewards of our economy and the money the American people entrust their government with. Now, more than ever, we must remember it is not our money, it’s the American people’s money. It is not our economy, it’s their economy. We all have a responsibly to do all that is possible to roll back inflation and manage our debts because the longer we or the Federal Reserve waits to act, the more economic pain will be caused.” – Senator Joe Manchin

In A Hermitage of Petrified Words

Aurelias - Sunset On A Forest Path
In A Hermitage of Petrified Words
by Michael Doyle

Like a forest well petrified
By minerals filling in for life
A poet thinks in his hermitage
Dreaming about things to study on
There's an abandonment of conjunction
When like Chomsky, language ceases to function

We drift like lyrics without meaning
Frozen in acceptance of bygone eras
As we discriminate on misplaced prepositions
Changing verbs into rooms never meant to occupy
It's a place where words flow into emptiness
Making their way while pseudo-thinkers nod in bliss

Advocating a gradual linguistic evolution
That forms words as sterile as cross-bred mules
Words like survivor from simply feeling unsafe
Or the resistance of those politically aggressive
Which only makes sense if existence is attack
Minted like emblems in opposition taken aback

It's a dangerous gambit to take a liar's word
The truth of time is that history does not take sides
In a world where deficit adds up to surplus
And the Krazy Glue whiffed is treated as perfection
These words from modern times have taken life as self
But their meanings will not be taken from Webster's shelf

There is a perpetual messing with the sort of everything
Seeking to find our way through all of this emptiness
Because our fates depend on our coming to understanding
And certainty of meaning has become misconstrued
In this petrified forest of words, quite often ill-conceived
There is an immutable stillness in a poet feeling deceived
