Thought For the Day: Nothing Ruins A Face So Fast As Double-Dealing. Your Face Telling One Story to the World. Your Heart Yanking Your Face To Pieces, Trying To Let the Truth Be Known

“Nothing ruins a face so fast as double-dealing. Your face telling one story to the world. Your heart yanking your face to pieces, trying to let the truth be known.” – Jessamyn West, novelist (1902-1984)

Thought For the Day: A Fundamental Interdependence Exists Between the Personal Right to Liberty and the Personal Right In Property

“The dichotomy between personal liberties and property rights is a false one. Property does not have rights. People have rights… In fact, a fundamental interdependence exists between the personal right to liberty and the personal right in property.” – Justice Potter Stewart (1915-1985)

Truth In Gratitude

Thanksgiving Traditions Hunt - Give Thanks
Truth In Gratitude
by Michael Doyle

It isn't just a thought
But the needed action
Acting in rightful gratitude
Brings its satisfaction

Thankfulness is the beginning
Of the truest gratitude
It's the fat chance that's thinning
Unless given in the right attitude

Struck as we are on life's tread mill
We follow our will... not God's will
There's a need for that action step
With mindfulness given on our breath

In all of our unclean moments
When we live through self made torments
There are lessons we are learning
Desperately needed in our discerning

It's here in our chosen bits of confession
That we think on what passes for progression
That has taken us from darkness into light
It's then we know that all will be all right

First Principles: It Is the Madness of Folly, To Expect Mercy From Those Who Have Refused To Do Justice

“It is the madness of folly, to expect mercy from those who have refused to do justice; and even mercy, where conquest is the object, is only a trick of war; the cunning of the fox is as murderous as the violence of the wolf.” – Thomas Paine, The American Crisis, No. 1, 1776

The Difference

Exhalt - A Warrior's Throne
The Difference
by Michael Doyle

The difference between
A man and a king
Is that a king
Can face what the future will bring

For all of the goodness
And all of the sorrow
Through all of the madness
That may come tomorrow

And still, he stands in tallness
To the full of his height
Despite the cruelty and smallness
That blots out the darkest night

Still keeping to his plan
Whatever obstacles get in his way
Staying as firm as he can
No matter the harshness some may say

This then makes the difference between
A man and a king
That the man becomes the king
By facing and conquering whatever life may bring

First Principles: How Difficult It Has Been For Mankind… To Preserve Their Dearest Rights and Best Privileges, Impelled As It Were By An Irresistible Fate of Despotism

“How prone all human institutions have been to decay; how subject the best-formed and most wisely organized governments have been to lose their check and totally dissolve; how difficult it has been for mankind, in all ages and countries, to preserve their dearest rights and best privileges, impelled as it were by an irresistible fate of despotism.” — James Monroe, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788
