Thought For the Day: Government Price-Fixing Once Started Has Alike No Justice and No End. It is An Economic Folly From Which This Country Has Every Right To Be Spared

“Government price-fixing once started, has alike no justice and no end. It is an economic folly from which this country has every right to be spared.” – Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)

First Principles: No Experiment Can Be More Interesting Than That We Are Now Trying, And Which We Trust Will End In Establishing the Fact, That Man May Be Governed By Reason and Truth

“No experiment can be more interesting than that we are now trying, and which we trust will end in establishing the fact, that man may be governed by reason and truth. Our first object should therefore be, to leave open to him all the avenues to truth. The most effectual hitherto found, is the freedom of the press. It is, therefore, the first shut up by those who fear the investigation of their actions.”– Thomas Jefferson, Letter to John Tyler, 1804

Thought For the Day: The Study of Money, Above All Other Fields In Economics, Is One In Which Complexity Is Used To Disguise Truth Or To Evade Truth, Not To Reveal It

First Principles: It Is Error Alone Which Needs the Support of Government. Truth Can Stand By Itself

“It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself. Subject opinion to coercion: whom will you make your inquisitors?” – Thomas Jefferson (1781)

First Principles: The Sacred Rights of Mankind Are…Written…In the Whole Volume of Human Nature, By the Hand of the Divinity Itself

“The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, as with a sun beam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” – Alexander Hamilton, The Farmer Refuted, 1775

Books Read Throughout Life

SL14B -Electrify -Old Globe Tribute To the Bards
Books Read Throughout Life
by Michael Doyle

In a repeated mantra of life
In all the things we have sought
There is the truth reflected
In lessons accidentally taught

In this and all stages of life
We find it's worth another look
To sit and quietly curl up
With yet another well read book

Experience makes us more reflective
As our eyes stumble across words
Finding hope in all the connectives
That offer us lessons yet to learn

Youth offers Hamlet's final excuse
For all that is gotten terribly wrong
In its vengeance ill-taken
Where the golden rule never belongs

Mediocre minds tend to look for the less
As if the world did not know better
And failed perhaps yet to guess
That Shakespeare wrote from his own space

Genius that offered bits of tragic comedy
Alongside a playwright's staged nobility
It had not need to give us steep philosophy
To provide its lessons for you and for me
