Na/GloPoWriMo #27: In A Cemetery Obscure

The Butterfly Conservatory 2021 - Mother and Child
Na/GloPoWriMo #27: In A Cemetery Obscure
by Michael Doyle

Today's walk
Filled with history
Footsteps fallen
In the silent cemetery

Melancholy and forlorn
This modern world
Needs some of the ringlorn
To realize, everyday is a quest

Harmless decision points
Lead to the agnosthesia
Words spoken and unspoken
Hold their forms of amnesia

Tears fall silently
Dormant as a lilo
Her ghost calls to her baby
In the that tombstone like silo

There is something obscure
In the vision's sorrow
1918 held no absolution or cure
And for some, there was no tomorrow

Thought For the Day: Freedom To Differ Is Not Limited To Things That Do Not Matter Much. That Would Be A Mere Shadow of Freedom.

“Freedom to differ is not limited to things that do not matter much. That would be a mere shadow of freedom. The test of its substance is the right to differ as to things that touch the heart of the existing order.” – Justice Robert H. Jackson (1892-1954)

Na/GloPoWriMo #26: This Is Just To Play

Summer of '42 - The Director Has Found Her Set
Na/GloPoWriMo #26: This Is Just To Play
by Michael Doyle (in nod to William Carlos Williams)

As a mirror
To this modernity
I look around
At the visual syntax
Seen as it connects
In this living room

To say which
Pragmatically
Beyond the mess
Covering
The roominess

Asking that you forgive me
For being malicious
Delicious revenge served
Sweet and so very cold

Imagining Science Incorrectly

Imagine this:

With a huge portion of America’s business not being done from Covid lockdown, only 13% of carbon emissions were reduced.. Biden has stated a goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 50% from 2005 levels by 2030 and 100% by 2050. What would that look like if we do not move to block this guy who hasn’t had an honest job in over 50 years?

The Left answers this with an optimistic, ‘use renewables’. After decades of subsidies and mandates, where are we on that, you might ask. Glad you did. 80% of American energy is generated by fossil fuels and nuclear. Most renewable uses right now are wind and hydropower which are not available in most areas. These make up nearly 20% of the current renewable use. 2% of the renewable market is solar. Ask around how reliable that is…

The Left ignorantly counters with a this is now but later it will be better. In a sense, one has to love that optimism. As a measuring stick, keep in mind that the photovoltaic effect was discovered in 1888. There has been very little gain from this in about 150 years.

Yet Biden pontificates:

“The signs are unmistakable, the science undeniable. Cost of inaction keeps mounting.”

Some of us who once pushed hardcore for these very ideas look on at the absurdity and wonder what in the world the Left is thinking. Look back at your history books or newspapers or other sources and track the real science. Our environment is cleaner than it has been in decades. Look at the numbers who die because of climate related disasters and realize how far down the numbers are from the past. This is the real science that should be followed. Not the alarmist drone that has added substantially nothing to the welfare of humanity. Speaking of welfare, has anyone noticed how well even the poorest among us are living overall and how much the standard of living has risen?

All of this will be gone if we follow Biden’s worship of Gia over real science.

Na/GloPoWriMo #25 Pieces d’Occasion

Elvion - Island In the Sky
Na/GloPoWriMo #25:Pieces d'Occasion
by Michael Doyle

Every day has its celebration
When approached with fascination
Given with grace and latitude
Grateful to be alive is not a platitude
In a world spinning the right direction
With enough intimacy to make connection
To know my daughters are alive and well
That they will live to tell their tale
Even as the oldest tells me of changes to my voice
And how it is that the vaccination taken by choice
Has brought back the cough I once had
From sarcoidosis and that it makes her sad
So, I tell her yet another bad daddy joke
As she grimaces and I again quietly choke
Still, we are all standing on our feet
To this old heart that is good enough and sweet
I offer my praise for today and every day
We ae on this side of the ground, able to make our way
