Na/GloPoWriMo #30: While By Rhyme We Say Goodbye

Path to Oneself Reflection - Words Lost From Never Being Spoken
Na/GloPoWriMo #30: While By Rhyme We Say Goodbye
by Michael Doyle

Moving ever toward
By inching forward
In a sideways slide
Where up tells down to hide

Life becomes its hide and seek
Though we remain afraid to speak
Words we really want to say
The truths that get us through our days

Legends tell us of our prophecy
Tiny peeks at what we want to see
Even if we are all slightly broken
We remain fresh and quite outspoken

Thirty days of rhymes led astray
Well played as these were day by day
And now that time has come to fly
While by rhyme we say goodbye

Raised as toast and mighty cheer
That is at least until next year
Where once again well share a word or two
Given to poetry as we always do

Na/GloPoWriMo #29: From This Side of the Window

LEA10: Metamofaces - A Girl In the Window
Na/GloPoWriMo #29: From This Side of the Window
by Michael Doyle

There was a time as a younger man
When life excited me as it no longer can
That I would climb up into that building
A hotel in which bargains were no longer yielding

The deals that could change a lifetime
But it still held words that fell into rhyme
Every now and then, from this side of the window
As I played guitar watching all the to and fro

All the passers who passed casually on by
Like they changed directions as if on the fly
Always as if they knew where they were going
As if some cheap trick, they were employing

All of this world is magical to all
That is except for the magician who'd recall
It had to do with stacking the cards the right way
And the distracting words, he would say

It was plain to see, from this side of the window
Where I knew all that books read could know
That is except for the deepest meaning
Of what it was to be see beyond simply seeing

Everyone seeming to know where to go
But not me, from this side of the window
It might have been that I was too busy dreaming
Or, lost up in one too many illusions of scheming

Now I wear an older man's set of cheap clothes
But I am still the boy no one really knows
Maybe because I was too busy watching the show
From here, on the edge of this side of the window

Na/GloPoWriMo #28: Posing A Serious Question

Walls of Freedom - In Memory of George Floyd and All the Needless Death and Destruction

Na/GloPoWriMo #28: Posing A Serious Question
by Michael Doyle

Looking at the increased polarization
Noted as widespread across this nation
There is a serious question to be asked
One for which thinkers are now tasked
What will it take in education
To return civility to our nation?
Listening to all with great deliberation
Can we please join in this conversation
Violent tempers bleed away our liberty
This much is no great mystery
Every day lives have become turmoil
With each citizen questioning who is loyal
Modeled at best as virtuous engagement
Let us stop the hate and turn to right government
Please let’s acknowledge no one’s ill intent
And work toward creating justice as more content
How do we move past this general mistake
And bring healing to this heartbreak?

Na/GloPoWriMo #27: In A Cemetery Obscure

The Butterfly Conservatory 2021 - Mother and Child
Na/GloPoWriMo #27: In A Cemetery Obscure
by Michael Doyle

Today's walk
Filled with history
Footsteps fallen
In the silent cemetery

Melancholy and forlorn
This modern world
Needs some of the ringlorn
To realize, everyday is a quest

Harmless decision points
Lead to the agnosthesia
Words spoken and unspoken
Hold their forms of amnesia

Tears fall silently
Dormant as a lilo
Her ghost calls to her baby
In the that tombstone like silo

There is something obscure
In the vision's sorrow
1918 held no absolution or cure
And for some, there was no tomorrow
