First Principles:

“It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself. Subject opinion to coercion: whom will you make your inquisitors?” -Thomas Jefferson (1781)

Thought For the Day: The Character That Takes Command In Moments of Critical Choices Has Already Been Determined

”The character that takes command in moments of critical choices has already been determined. It has been determined by a thousand other choices made earlier in seemingly unimportant moments. It has been determined by all those ‘little’ choices of years past—by all those times when the voice of conscience was at war with the voice of temptation—whispering a lie that ‘it doesn’t really matter.’. It has been determined by all the day-to-day decisions made when life seemed easy and crises seemed far away, the decisions that piece by piece, bit by bit, developed habits of discipline or of laziness; habits of self-sacrifice or self-indulgence; habits of duty and honor and integrity—or dishonor and shame.” – Ronald Reagan

Breath Walks Through The Back Door

Raven Craig Art Center-Invoking Peace and Focus Prior To Going Back To Studies
Breath Walks Through The Back Door
by Michael Doyle

Music is the magic of the tones we find
In leaving our troubled world far behind
Feeding our core once and again
Can be the breath of the violin

As breath walks through the back door
Opening the heart to love and explore
There is no other best expediency
In walking our path of true resiliency

Escaping all of life's pointed vulgarities
Finding technique of humor's familiarity
Listening to our muse in the dark and deep
There in those secret spaces that we keep

Life comes at us, through the moment to moment
Between the multiverse lines of smiles and torment
Within the chant that charts our every course
It is there that we make connection with our source

Breathing is the substance that reveals our joy
Giving the best of life for us live and to employ
Those things that are present in our meditation
And that we find best in our internal connection

First Principles: Kings or Parliaments Could Not Give the Rights Essential To Happiness… We Claim Them From A Higher Source – From the King of Kings, and Lord of All the Earth

“Kings or parliaments could not give the rights essential to happiness… We claim them from a higher source — from the King of kings, and Lord of all the earth. They are not annexed to us by parchments and seals. They are created in us by the decrees of Providence, which establish the laws of our nature. They are born with us; exist with us; and cannot be taken from us by any human power, without taking our lives.” – John Dickinson
