Wishes of Gray (Thoughts On My Birthday)

Home, Sweet, Home - Take One - First Christmas
Wishes of Gray (Thoughts On My Birthday)
by Michael Doyle

In all of my wishes of gray
Today is just another day
I'm another year older
But no less the bolder

Created in my confession
Is my long ago connection
That I'll never be older than I feel
With both feet grounded, I keep it real

If there's a lesson I would instill
It's to do my best to fulfill God's will
Better to keep faith in being on His side
Then burying me in wounded pride

Life is lived by how we measure
Each day spent is marked as treasure
There's no hesitation in my sigh
No need for a quick or witty reply

Another year older and closer to death
I'll live life fully to my last breath
And if I look on the face of loving eyes
As I stumble on to what's next, there'll be no goodbyes

Only a see you later as I catch as catch can
Satisfied in how I've done my best to be the man
Who lived in his fullest sense of integrity
To give more than given to my best capability

Rather I end up knocking on Heaven or Hell's door
When it's time it's time, no one can ignore
But if I can look back without guessing
That I've taught my daughters well life's lessons

Encouraging them to be their very best
Then I'll know that I've passed the test
The one that truly matters most to me
Having affirmed the preciousness of their dignity

There will be no time for me to ever regret
If the one thing my loved ones never forget
Is just how deeply I have loved them with each breath
And if I can say this, there is no such thing as death

First Principles: Man, When Perfected, Is the Best of Animals, But, When Separated From Law and Justice, He Is the Worst of All

“For man, when perfected, is the best of animals, but, when separated from law and justice, he is the worst of all; since armed injustice is the more dangerous, and he is equipped at birth with the arms of intelligence and with moral qualities which he may use for the worst ends.” – Aristotle (384-322 BC)

Ever Free

House of Prayer - Sharpened At the Altar Crossed
Ever Free
by Michael Doyle

Joining in as the heavens and earth sings
Hoping a white Christmas will bring
This world's resounding joy
As every good boy and girl unwrap their toys

In wonder of love, we gather and rejoice
Gathered together to make a little noise
All in worship of the Lord we praise
Love calms our fears throughout our days

Renewed again in faith as of old
Al of the glory in the tales we're told
His wonderous love fills our life
Bringing us, His peace instead of strife

Looking up to the nighttime skies
Reverently praying with uplifted eyes
Needing to hear a joyful proclamation
As we join hands in prayer across our nation

Jesus came to us as Emanuel
Godhead wearing as it were a human veil
Holiness has given righteousness to us all
Eternal life given as a cross adorns our wall

The king in our heart rules over our land
This is the liberation of His good command
No evil will have its final victory
It is in God that we will live forever free

I Wanted To…

'Tis the Season Revisited - Best Present Ever
I Wanted To...
by Michael Doyle

I wanted to reach up to the heavens
And pull down the stars down close
Just so they could shine on you

I wanted to be the one who makes life
Something beautiful and magical
Just so that you would smile

I wanted to be the one who
Could help you smile and laugh
Just to have your laughter

I wanted to be your superman
So that you had someone to believe in
Just so you'd know your heart is safe

Instead, I am as mortal
As it seems is every other man
And still, I give you my promise

That if you might love me forever
I will give my devotion to you
If only you promise your love and be true

My only wish is to be
The man who is there for you
Maybe I could hold you close as my love

If only your eyes could see
All of the smiles you have brought
You would know that you are my treasure

Each night that I fall asleep
I find that you are my dream
Believing as I do in all that you are

...This is my of world of constant wonder
A light on the hearth's fire
Burning in my heart's desire every night
