Thought For the Day: The People Who Get On In This World Are the People Who Get Up and Look For the Circumstances They Want and If They Can’t find them, Make Them

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.” – George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)

Faithful and Good

God’s words fill our souls like some sort of universal melody at times.

Whitewater River Valley II 07212020

Faithful and Good
by Michael Doyle

Faithful and good in what you do to me
Filling my heart with your melody
Every beat of my heart is steadfast and true
Forever your spoken word has delivered me in you

Faithful and good you've stood in my absolution
Asking only my obedience as my contribution
With your words of love, you've brought atonement
I can't begin to tell you just how much that's meant

Some times it's hard for me to believe
All of your goodness is hard to conceive
That you would take my place to save
Suffering the three days of darkness in the grave

Raising up to provide my redemption
Your love finds me in contemplation
As your sacrifice has made its way
There at Calvary on that merciless day

Taking that beating for us, one and all
Wept tears are mine, each time I recall
How it is that your love is so steadfast
And how with your sacrifice, my salvation is cast

Forever standing completely in my awe
How you gave yourself for the price of us all
Desperate as I've been as my vision has blurred
I've only found focus in the clarity of your Word

At times, I have felt my soul shaken
Clinging to life, I've barely awaken
There have been times, my heart was breaking
In need of your love, my soul has been shaking

Knowing my truth worth in you, faithful and good
Down on my knees, defeated until I've understood
That it is only you that is worthy of praise
I've chosen your yoke to wear until the end of my days

So much for my malingering procrastination
Come have your way with my full salvation
You have moved me steadfast into this place
And I, as your servant, beg for your saving embrace

First Principles: Every Measure of Prudence…Ought To Be Assumed For the Eventual Extirpation of Slavery From the United States

“Every measure of prudence, therefore, ought to be assumed for the eventual total extirpation of slavery from the United States. … I have, throughout my whole life, held the practice of slavery in … abhorrence.” – John Adams (1819)

For those who may not know, John Adams was the second president of the United States.  For those who may not know, the Declaration of Independence first draft included language citing the British making slavery mandatory in the colonies that became the United States as a cause of our revolution.  For those who do not know, most of our founding fathers who signed the Declaration of Independence and then those who signed the Constitution were against slavery in theory if not practice and nearly all agreed to a process in which slavery which had been worked into our economic system by the British crown not Americans themselves would be got rid of eventually.

For those who do not know, the 1619 Project of the New York Times is complete rubbish and not an accurate depiction of US History.   Read the words of the 1776 Project instead which was founded by, researched thoroughly by and well documented (as opposed to the 1619 propaganda piece) by black American scholars who were terribly upset by the lies and distortions told in the 1619 Project.   Don’t believe me?  Go to the group I started on FB and Second Life called All Life Is Sacred, look under the subject of truth tellers and you will find the link to the 1776 Project.  Stop believing the lies and look for what is easily enough evidenced by a bit of reading and learning.

I would like to challenge the lead propagandist of the 1619 Project to a debate on US History.  With her backing from the NYT, she should have the superior resources, correct?  Bring it, Ms. Nikole Hannah-Jones, anytime any place.  Are you willing to put your mind against mine and show the world how much you know about US history?  You’re the ‘expert’, right?

Thought For the Day: The Man Who Has Begun To Live More Seriously Within Begins To Live More Simply Without

In Our Persistence

A fascinating presentation on cognition and how we’re all allegedly living in some sort of a shared hallucination that we call reality, led to this…

Light Thoughts 3 - Struggle

In Our Persistence
by Michael Doyle

As I sit there listening
My neurons sparkling and glistening
I started to think
Of how these are on the brink

I could not say for certain
Despite the joy and the hurting
Who exactly am I really
With all the touchy and the feely

It all comes down to sequence
Synapses firing with consequence
All comes down to our best guess
Nothing more and sometimes less

It's all there as a hallucinated perception
Absent any deliberated deception
All of this is a matter of expectation
Fed through our mind's interpretation

Sensory impulses loaded as information
Then subject to our mental transformation
It's mutual two way flow of in and out
And of this cognition, there is little doubt

The world we experience is one of generation
As much from the inside as the outside's inspiration
It seems that hallucination is uncontrolled perception
And that perception itself is a controlled hallucination

Signals reined in from the outside
Filter through the signals coming from inside
Agreed on hallucinations for our reality
But, is it then, what might be meant by actually

From this it seems that being unified and yet apart
Comes down to the illusions and delusions of the heart
All of this is but a fragile construction
Easily leant toward the path of our mutual destruction

Even our bodies are at best guesstimation
What we think of as real is at best estimation
We are kept well and alive by interoception
With all of our body consisting of points of reception

Virtual reality when felt with deep immersion
Is true life felt in a slightly different version
All of these variables are subject to regulation
With each signal felt with its interpretation

Followed all the way through in staying alive
Are the nuts and bolts of doing more than survive
Predicted then in and into our best existence
We then are fully alive in our persistence

When the end comes there is nothing to fear
As we fade into the oneness, we will there persevere

Lifted Song

A sort of song of praise:

Freedom Gospel Church - Dance In Praise

Lifted Song
by Michael Doyle

With a lifted song
I find myself drawn
To where I belong
Awakening with the dawn

I've seen all that you've done
Mystified by the glory of the Son
In all of my days
I will sing your praise

My worship pours out
As I release any doubt
Solid in faith and victory
Let me proclaim all you mean to me

You are the change in my everything
My reason for song in the songs I sing
Your glory shines its way down
Over my heart is your crown

In a flood of your opened space
Is that which is your sacred place
My heart is opened to your glory
As I live each moment as part of your story

Thought For the Day: Today We Are No Longer Living In A Free Society. Instead, We Are Ruled By Those Who Try To Enforce Their Extreme Views By Shaming and Ruining Those Who Think Differently

“Today we are no longer living in a free society. Instead, we are ruled by those who try to enforce their extreme views by shaming and ruining those who think differently. It is not far-fetched to compare the methods of this ‘woke movement’ to those of Chairman Mao’s Red Guards, who terrorized the Chinese people half a century ago.” –  John Gray, London School of Economics emeritus professor

Thought For the Day: A Daughter Is A Gift of Love

“A daughter is a gift of love.” – Author Unknown

Two daughters are twice the gift of love.  I treasure each moment spent with them.  Watching each of them growing into the very unique young ladies they are, marveling in their insights, grace and humor.   Even at this late hour, as they lay sleeping and I play catch up with chores that I would have normally completed hours ago, I sit here feeling so completely and richly blessed by the day that I had yesterday.  I still remember wondering and being a bit fearful of what it would be like to try to figure out how to be daddy to girls.  Sons, are easy enough.  I understand very well how to teach sports and things like that.  But, what I’ve discovered in this adventure is that as much as I’ve learned to teach and share, there is also that they teach me.  Not only showing me the world seen through their eyes, but, what they need to learn from me and what I might best share.   I thank the Lord for such wonderful persons that they are and who they are becoming.

First Principles: We In America Do Not Have Government By the Majority – We Have Government By the Majority Who Participate

“We in America do not have government by the majority—we have government by the majority who participate…. All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.” – Thomas Jefferson
