Fast As A Fox

When the raiders came, survival was to the strong and fleet of foot…

Dreamers & Co

Fast As A Fox
by Michael Doyle

Run, run
Fast as a fox
Hide, hide
Inside the rocks

Deep, deep
Inside the grotto
Weep, Weep
Hidden In the shadow

Blood falls like rain
Inceptively, life drains
Flowing rich and warm
Death to life conforms

The wolves chase through wood
Fire's secrets understood
Excalibur sinks into its stone
Blood spills to atone

In Dream’s Shadow

Sort of a word play on a Celtic adventure of romance, magic and dreams.

Fantasy Faire - Zodiac - Another Drink From the Fountain of Dreams

In Dream's Shadow
by Michael Doyle

Drowning in your spell
My secrets to reveal
Fallen to blade you wield
I suddenly find, I yield

To sleep inside your dream
The sheerest magic, I have seen
There in the magic that you bring
What was once not is suddenly everything

With two hands upon your hips
And scarlet wet on your lips
Long red hair flowing as your snare
My heart is yours as in all ways fair

A search for words that I might know
But fail as your love ebbs and flows
Day breaks to find that I must go
Always following in dream's shadow

Tavern Dice

Much of life is lived as though on a roll of the dice.  Game of chance and circumstance lived with our best intentions.

LEA10 - Lee Allison Dreamscapes -Roll of the Dice

Tavern Dice
by Michael Doyle

With a roll of dice
A gamble is made
For something nice
Or evil, I'm afraid

There in this game
Of snake's eyes and seven
Is that familiar same
Discarded in the name of heaven

Crookedly weighted in the die
That fixes the score
In this way, deception lies
That and something more

The minstrel dares to ramble
In search of his broken melody
A darkened tavern's gamble
Is all the same for you and me

All's the laughter
He bargains with the shadow
As long as we both get what we're after
Does it matter how the dice rolls?

The God Smiles

A bit of a story about Celtic magic derived from a much larger story:

Nouk Land - Totem In A Ghost Wolf

The God Smiles
by Michael Doyle

The God smiles in sanctification
Blessing His love in its purification
Lessons taught in the Garden's tending
Such is the face worn in its pretending

Demons drive the rage we keep inside
While pretending otherwise with great pride
All of the pretense that we burn
Are lessons still greater than we'll learn

Elsewhere, a sleepy village wakes at dawn
Wishing only for life and peace to go on
Death wakes to life from burning embers
While the wolf peers out from the timbers

First Principles: In A Single Sentence of Self-Evident Truth, the Founding Fathers Put…the Broad Basis of Man’s Relationship To God, Government and To Mankind

“The Declaration of Independence is the all-time masterpiece of ideological simplification. There in a single sentence of self-evident truth, the founding Fathers put into clear, easily understandable focus, the broad basis of man’s relationship to God, to government, and to his fellow man.” – Clarence Manion (1896-1979)

Born In the Dawn

Tales of magic and the quests that invariably accompany these always tug at my soul.

Serene Heart Community - Sacred Together

Born In the Dawn
by Michael Doyle

In the mists of time, there is a story
Of the sword of power and it's full glory
One day a woman would come to wield
All of the mystery to be revealed

Men fear a woman of such power
Fearing her as a demon who might devour
That was before Arthur became king
With his courage and all that would bring

Such lives begin with water and of fire
Cursed as we were with earthly desire
The cursed raven sits and sees it all
It's murder swirls in flight before the wall

There is magic in the near woods
A thousand omens rest when understood
Listening to all to be heard in nature's voice
Heeding its guidance in making clear choice

One voice stand out as if a long lost friend
Whispering loudly that death is not the end
Witching can bring curse or be its own boon
Depending on the need and, of course, the moon

To suffer fools or to learn to lead
This is the choice required by force and deed
An offering made of life in sacrifice
And still the doubters wonder if it will suffice

Born in the dawn to pass in the twilight
Those hidden choose who they please to give sight
The voices of discontent see as these might
But regardless, the will of wisdom is the path of right

A Dagger’s Breath

The last in the classic retelling of a classic werewolf tale:

Driftwood Presents - Kingdom hearts -Rune Gate

A Dagger's Breath
by Michael Doyle

Everywhere the deceived heart searches for clues
Bits of treachery displayed in all of its hues
You can hide it all within a certain mask
Simply through the questions you do and don't ask

A hero's heart seeks to be free of chains
However much it might seem in vain
So much hatred in the name of the cross
All of which would find Christ at His loss

To protect us from darkness, we are fed lies
When our only safe passage is the sunrise
Under the blood moon is read the verse
While those who are bitten live under the curse

Big eyes are all the better with which to see
Big ears are better to hear somehow infinitely
Big teeth are the things of nightmares and tears
All of these become the wolf of our worse fears

Woken as it were from the night of sheer terror
We become keenly aware of all of our errors
A hero does what needs to be done and does not complain
Through their courage the beast will be slain

The wolfen sees the world in his bestial pride
Offering his cursed gift as he quietly confides
Telling his daughter that she will be invincible
Something she doesn't want and finds incredible

Driving silver into this unholy veins
She takes her destiny by its reins
She is not the Devil's daughter
And though love might die, she will not be her father

On the banks of the foggy, frozen lake
She watched her goodbye as her soul shakes
The winter came with all of its brutality
A dagger's breath felt in its mortality
