Crossed Paths

Touch and go for the soul.

VUK - Homeless Vagabond

Crossed Paths
by Michael Romani

Silent like a river
Life continues to flow
What is today
Will soon be long ago

The things we hold onto
The things we believe
They mean so much to you
Though I'm certain these deceive

Crossed paths in journey
That caused you to appear
Secret drops of destiny
Found within each tear

First Principles: Laws That Forbid the Carrying of Arms Disarm Only Those Who Are Neither Inclined Nor Determined To Commit Crimes

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” – Thomas Jefferson

Tradeau

Funny thing about pointing fingers, when you do, for your one finger pointed, three point back at the accuser most often.  This truism seems to proven itself this time around.

Tradeau

Well, would you look at that
We're entitled to opinions
But not separate facts
Peel it back like an onion
And tell me what you see
The truth has seldom been heresy

Self appointed narrative can be a trip
Especially when spoken by hypocritical lips
Talking all about non-evidenced racism
And allowance toward another's 'fascism'
Whit is you captured in 'brownface'
And a past you don't wish to embrace

The times we've lived through
Are perhaps long overdue
Always interesting and ever changing
Constantly moving and rearranging
And still we have this truth
Who did what in whose youth?

Dignity of Being

On the dignity of being that says all has its place and there is no such thing as not being good enough.  We are all either exactly what God intends us to be or finding our way to this.

Dignity of Being
by Michael Romani

A fireman approaches the wildfire
Drawn to the break; down to the wire
Watching the woodland beauty burn
But knowing inside what he discerns
Death is necessary to the cycle of life
Just as peace come after all strife

It's bittersweet to say and to know
But, Mother Nature kills to regrow
Ironically death provides the opportunity
To reform and reshape life with capability
To face up to that ever resurgent demand
After the fire burns through the wooded stand

Death and life, on and on toward infinity
Perpetuating new life to the ends of eternity
The old gives way always in all ways to the new
The dead feed the living, even me and you
Life danced like a salmon in upstream exhaustion
To give birth to new life and breathe a nation

The forest floor sings out life's composition
As life giving nitrogen forms from decomposition
All the great things becoming shapes within one
It's in the flow of life's dance never quite done
Everything blends and bends is what I've found
As all fits into each and each into all around

All of the world's living things woven into tapestry
In a blessed interconnection of the utmost majesty
Spun in a circled dance of life transitioned into death
Taken in as the miracle felt within each passing breath
As far as the eye can see there is all worth the seeing
But you have to look within to find the dignity of being

Ghosts of A Thousand Ages

We can learn a lot from history.

Chanty’s Creations -Ghost Willow

Ghosts of A Thousand Ages
by Michael Romani

The ghosts of a thousand ages
Tell the truth of a thousand sages
Stepping to the ledge, window shopping
The fireworks inside are heart stopping

Love of music fires our mortal souls
Each string strummed serves to console
The ghosts of the past
Are sustained as the memories that last

By keeping our joyful hearts
As we have from the start
Legends kept in our heads
Are spoken as blessings from the dead
