First Principles: Immigration Is Not Just A Link To America’s Past; It’s Also a Bridge To America’s Future

“Nearly all Americans have ancestors who braved the oceans-liberty-loving risk takers in search of an ideal-the largest voluntary migrations in recorded history. Across the Pacific, across the Atlantic, they came from every point on the compass-many passing beneath the Statue of Liberty-with fear and vision, with sorrow and adventure, fleeing tyranny or terror, seeking haven, and all seeking hope…Immigration is not just a link to America’s past; it’s also a bridge to America’s future.” – George H.W. Bush (June 12, 1924 – November 30, 2018)

(Legal immigration is encouraged from all corners of the earth. Illegal Immigration Is Not.)

Love and Mercy On A Summer’s Day

Love and Mercy On Summer's Day
by Michael Doyle

In these lean times of heroes and villains found
On the dirty streets of LA traveled around,
He fell into the cliche of cause and correlation.
Addiction to unheard sounds became an attraction.

There inside the labyrinth of Brian's tortured soul,
He sought after but only sometimes gained control.
Stream of consciousness is the life we live in,
And there's so much unintentional to be forgiven.

When I was young, I found love and mercy on a summer's day,
It was found in the vinyl to which I would sing and play.
Mesmerized by the lay of every note right in its pocket to hear,
There was a special kind of magic in the songs I held dear.

Brian Wilson's tunes were more than just simple imitation,
They were masterpieces that were majestic in their creation.
This was especially true of the pet sounds beyond simplicity,
It was the charted course into modern music's complicity.

Drones of endless noise and snippets of well-meaning speech
Brought the Muse closer to madness and its slippery reach.
There was something there like an internal lotus unfolding.
A meditative stranglehold revealed the hand felt scolding.

Tonight, under the closeness of June's Strawberry Moon,
I sang his songs loudly at the thought they ended too soon.
But isn't that the way it is when we feel the music inside?
It has to come out because there is really nowhere to hide.

It seems it's the scars we grow along our life's journey
That edges us ever closer toward the happenstance of destiny.
From 1966, there were no one-off singles for the maestro,
And finally, he's taken his last bow before he turned to go.

Thought For the Day: The Sea, the Great Unifier, Is Man’s Only Hope. Now, As Never Before, the Old Phrase Has A Literal Meaning: We Are All In the Same Boat

“The sea, the great unifier, is man’s only hope. Now, as never before, the old phrase has a literal meaning: we are all in the same boat.” – Jacques Cousteau (June 11, 1910 – June 25, 1997)

Heaven’s Hope

Heaven's Hope
by Michael Doyle

Heaven's hope is forever
So maybe it's clever
That we listen when angels cry
With our hands lifted to the sky.

We proclaim our love in Jesus's name,
Doing our best to remove all blame.
We speak the truth of our claim
That by God's grace, we're freed from shame.

Putting on the grace of rightful attitude,
Our faith and belief move beyond platitude.
Into the actions brought by our dedication,
Knowing and serving God's will is our motivation.

Angels and believers join together to sing.
Together we worship the holiness of our king,
Knowing that it's in Him we find our worth,
We keep our eyes on our true North.

Singing together, our voices join as one.
We honor the glory of our Father and the Son.
Thankful, we praise the Lord on high
With our hands raised toward the sky.

First Principles: If the Laws Are To Be So Trampled Upon With Impunity, and A Minority Is To Dictate To the Majority, There Is An End Put At One Stroke To Republican Government

“If the laws are to be so trampled upon with impunity, and a minority is to dictate to the majority, there is an end put at one stroke to republican government, and nothing but anarchy and confusion is to be expected thereafter.” – George Washington

Thought For the Day: A Great Deal of Intelligence Can Be Invested In Ignorance When the Need For Illusion Is Deep

“A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep.” -Saul Bellow, writer, Nobel laureate (10 Jun 1915-2005)

(Legal Immigration is not the same as illegally disregarding our borders and choosing not to assimilate into our American culture. It is a tautology to point out that by its very nature, it is illegal. The Left attempts to conflate this by calling both categories “immigration”. This is at best a dishonest practice.) We welcome all legal immigrants who wish to join our American society with all the nuances and flavors that accompany this immigration. How is this not understandable?)

Concerns For Perennial Truths

Concerns For Perennial Truths
by Michael Doyle

Admittedly, I grew up differently,
Believing in my nation and God reverently.
Strength of character and in spirit,
Where the battle was righteous, I would bear it.

I have watched as our ideals were beaten down,
And somehow Marxism claimed society's crown.
But now I stand a little prouder and see the possibility
Of rising above the din and its mass anxiety.

I see a nation on the brink of its discovery
That it can stand for righteousness in its recovery.
It's a return to the permanent things that bring prosperity,
And it begins by understanding our nation's sovereignty.

Moral order, self-government, and having a national purpose
Are the fundamentals by which we understand our service.
There will be no clinging to the burning embers of technocracy.
The people will remember our truths and return to dignity.

For most of my life, I have seen our self-confidence decline,
Wondering to myself whatever happened to this republic of mine.
Self-expression was freedom, not self-control and responsibility.
Self-governance was no longer believed within our capability.

The market didn't raise the children; neither did the latchkey.
The economy hollowed out as we rediscovered the need for family.
Yet, the elites tell us knowing biology is hardened bigotry.
We will not sacrifice on the altar of convenience and identity.

Our republic requires the People's moral formation.
Fundamental truths are not a matter of anyone's imagination.
We refuse conformance to any taxing demands of globalism
On the conviction that meaning is what brings optimism.

An old adage states that it is always darkest before the dawn,
But it's by the dawn's early light that we now make our move on
Ridding ourselves of the decrepit ways of foul-minded liberalism
The bureaucracy will be replaced by our renewed conservatism.

We are rebuilding the American Republic for every Main Street
While putting aside any feigned alliance with any Wall Street
That fails to understand the necessity of our own sovereignty.
It is the only means to dream and restore our nation's dignity.

There is no need or purpose in apologizing for civilization.
Instead, we must live ours for the greatness of this nation.
The economy and our global friendships exist for our family
Not the other way around as we begin to restore our dignity.
