Anchored In Grace

Anchored In Grace
by Michael Doyle

We stand as ambassadors,
In this world of brokenness,
Presenting loving truth,
Yet, sometimes noted for outspokenness.

All that we possess has been given
By our God who is truly living.
Our response is one of contemplation.
It leads to our redemption.

Its fullness is our life's story.
It becomes a study of true glory.
We believe the Gospel is an open door.
It brings the life of blessings we have in store.

God is omnipotent even as he gives us His love.
To our blessing, it fits snugly as a glove.
God is fully aware of our all too human faces,
Still, He is there to lovingly give us grace.

It is through God's will and not our own
That we come before His heavenly throne.
We know that God remains the same in every way
As you and I go through a process, day-to-day.

Anchored in grace, we know our way.
In knowing this, we know what to do and say
As we model Jesus in all that we do.
To our best, we are the children of God and true.

This knowledge is borne with fascination.
Within this truth, we find our motivation.
Step by step, we walk toward our maturity
Until we dutifully serve the blessed doxology.

No retreat; no surrender, and no sort of regret,
Ours is to live a life we're not meant to forget.
Charging on to the benefit of our God's glory,
This is our minor part in His greater story.

Thought For the Day: Use Me, God. Show Me How To Take Who I Am, Who I Want To Be, and What I Can Do, and Use It For A Purpose Greater Than Myself

“Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself.”— Martin Luther King, Jr.

In Opposition To the Mexican Reconquista

In Opposition To the Mexican Reconquista
by Michael Doyle

It sometimes feels like we're living in a different world.
Illegal immigrants line up in Compton with flags unfurled,
Feeling cocksure against the logic of prudent advice
Like they can take on the police, the Guard, and ICE.

The Southwest will not be recaptured by simply moving in.
Whatever the facts are about the United State's original sins.
This is our land now and like any nation, we will gladly defend
Our nation's right to these lands to the bitter end.

The claims made seek to evade the negotiations of 1848.
Loss of land is the cost that bears a reasonable weight.
While the burden may be a carried sense of nostalgic sorrow,
Victors have always, and will always, create the tomorrows.

There might have been a time when we wanted immigration,
But our resources are stressed and are first for our nation.
We must keep now to those willing to undergo integration
Becoming American in our ideals and cultural assimilation.

Let's take a steady look back on the economic reality
And ensure any stand we take is predicated on norms of history.
The United States has constantly aided against Mexican poverty.
Instead, it is persistent socialism that drains the economy.

Like never before, we must assert that the US is not Mexico.
Mexican Nationalists cannot pretend against facts they know.
The US is the land of liberty and offers much opportunity.
And this is justly caused by the ways of American society.

The better, wiser answer is to develop their own country.
This has proven to be the practical solution in history.
There is unsettled land and there are resources plenty,
All of which can serve to lift the people from poverty.

Omaha Beach

Omaha Beach
by Michael Doyle

The American soldier was carried by perpetual motion
In a metal hull as he prepared to land from the ocean.
The air around him was filled with the stench of salted fear.
All around him prayed, certain their deaths were near.

With no time to consider or breathe, friends were struck down.
Some of them never left the water to find solid ground.
It felt like a horror movie flashing before his mortal eyes.
On this day, D-Day, Satan wore a very thin, ghastly disguise.

The wind whistles now over the deserted shore of Omaha Beach,
No hint but silence of how the Allies made their needed breech.
The footsteps of heroes have long since faded from the sand,
Yet, the need remains to remember and still more to understand.

A steady infusion of blood had painted the waters along the shore.
The dead and the dying had paid the cost of winning the war.
Dire odds had been paid to claim this storied moment of victory,
Too many men pushed into a hail of bullets in the name of bravery.

Fighting together and many now buried side by heroic side,
These men knew the necessity of taking Omaha though they died.
A 50-mile death trap serves to remember freedom and liberty,
So many have died in the sacred name of needed victory.

The wind whistles now over the deserted shore of Omaha Beach,
No hint but silence of how the Allies made their needed breech.
The footsteps of heroes have long since faded from the sand,
Yet, the need remains to remember and still more to understand.
