Thought For the Day: Tact And Courtesy Keep Our Friendships Close

“Don’t flatter yourself that friendship authorizes you to say disagreeable things to your intimates. The nearer you come into relation with a person, the more necessary do tact and courtesy become. Except in cases of necessity, which are rare, leave your friend to learn unpleasant things from his enemies they are ready enough to tell them.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes

Manners and decency are never bad things and nearly always good.  Somewhere along the line we as a society have too often forgotten this.  In forgetting this we seethe and stew in all the little hurts that like a thousand paper cuts bring death to our relationships.  Maybe this is why we have such a huge divorce rate in contemporary society?
