In 1958, the American R&B group The O’Jays formed in Canton, Ohio. The band consisted of Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey and Bill Isles. They made their first chart appearance with Lonely Drifter in 1963. It wasn’t until 1972, that they became the forefront of the Philadelphia Soul. They were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 after several hits including Back Stabbers and Love Train. Aloha Promises Forever rates this album a seven out of 10.
